Hopefully they'll be able to find a new name or characters soon..."Park at MoA" just sounds bad. Although, I wouldn't think they would add something like Timberland Twister if they expected to close right after...

One of my many spontaneous decisions was to visit the MoA. I have no desire to return... it's just a big mall. The Spam museum 40(?) miles away though, now THAT I was happy to have stumbled upon!

The cast members I know have told me that the Company is adamant about getting very specific details for any accident, no matter how trivial. A lap bar failure, with attendant injuries would require a full report. (This is done for Disney's benefit, BTW. They want a full report with details in case the guest comes back later with a law suit.) I find it incomprehensible that the cast member would be so cavalier. Aside from anything else, it would severly jeopardize their continued employment. And where are those photos, anyway?

Disney told me that after he reported the incident on Jan. 26, they took the car out of service, adjusted it, and put it back in service the next day. Though I'm sure that almost anyone would reasonably go into a state of panic in such a situation, I'm advised there was no real safety risk because the ride is engineered to channel the energy and the riders' mass into the car, not out. With nothing to dispute that, I've concluded at this time that one lap bar failure is not newsworthy enough for me to put in our newspaper. However, due to the volume of skepticism expressed here, I thought I'd do the courtesy of reporting to this group that the incident did happen. Should more such incidents happen, I may change my mind about putting it in our paper. Regardless, if anybody here wishes to contact me about this or any other theme park matter, they may do so, at spowers@orlandosentinel.com. Scott Powers

A real person with a real name. My question is this, then. A person comes to a public discussion board about an incident like this that happened to them. They ask for "help." What sense does that make? And they have pictures -- but they won't publish. What sense does that make?

Does anyone here think she would have gotten her head bitten off, so-to-speak, for reporting such an experience? IMO, I would think the vast majority here would rush in to say, "Oh, I am so sorry that happened to you... I can imagine how frightening that must have been for your husband and child!" <<I've also spoken to the man involved, and his story is consistent with what I heard from Disney.>> Is he still in pain 10 days after the fact, as his wife claims?

Even the spill would be cleaned up immediately. I suppose it's possible that even though it did happen and has been corroborated, that it didn't happen to this particular poster.
