Yeah, hear them talking about the wonderful families, I see them crying (for real?), and all that. It comes off as too fake, and overly sentimental. The recipient families ARE wonderful people. We don't need to be whacked over the head with how wonderful they are, or how generous and talented the "design team" is, or prompted when we should cry. The people argue and whine through 45 minutes of the program. They bicker. They complain about the impossible deadline. (Shouldn't they allow enough time to do the project RIGHT then?) It's becomes almost like "This Old House" meets "Jerry Springer." It all becomes another attempt to inject artificial drama, emotionalism and celebrity into a program that doesn't need any. The cool thing about the show is the new house, the people in it, and the surprise on their faces. It DOESN'T need behind-the-scenes bickering divas. I know this isn't "Habitat for Humanity." But I the show is condescending to its viewers, and they could find a host and crew that are a whole lot more FUN, LIKEABLE and PROFESSIONAL. When they do, I'll watch and enjoy.

Where a total jerk of a person gets shipped off to a third-world country for three months as an aid worker and learns to be a nice person.

I haven't seen the show straight-through except for once, so I don't know their names, except for Ty, the annoying host. If he could just tone it down several notches, I could tolerate him. But I imagine they keep him because he's a babe magnet. The woman who hosts "Trading Spaces" is a lot more pleasant. She's just down-to-earth, and genuine.

A few times I thought the genuine emotion showed through, but not much. When they say the exact same phrase four and five times, you have to wonder if it's sincere or scripted.
