Actually, it just doesn't show them. It only shows the area where the subs used to be. Along the lower edge, you can see the beginning of the Snow White/Pooh building, and along the left edge, you can see the edges of the Village Haus and Philharmagic. The rest of the land would be left alone (most likely), unless they do some facade work. The area that is shown in the artwork is where they currently have the Ariel tent, Dumbo, DVC booth, Pooh playground, and a lot of trees. Nothing much will be removed that won't be replaced with something a little more substantial, assuming that this is a real plan and it actually is the plan that they are going to go forward with.

I really hope Mermaid is a good ride, but it's been years since WDW opened a new E-Ticket that really wowed me. Soarin' is nice, but it's really a glorified IMAX movie (and I hate the queue and the fact that the edges of the screen are clearly visible when riding). Everest is fun, but there's only the one (sometimes working) AA and little else to look at.

Like I said, I hope Mermaid impresses, but I'm not holding my breath. Sad, but true.

Amen UKFAN, though I think you will be very pleasantly surprised with DL later this year.

But yes, the MK Fantasyland sucks now, and if these are true, it will only marginally suck a little less.

But I can assure you that TWWOHP is going to blow the socks off of the industry when it opens. The dark ride they are building is going to be the bee's knees. Imagine a innovative ride system combined with full sized AAs such as a car sized spider and a 60' Basilisk. And an evironment that is a combination of actual sets and 3-d projections to give the environments a depth that can only be achieved with 3-d projection backgrounds. And lots of special effects like a Pepper's Ghost Wizarding Chess scene.

I think we've covered this territory before. I'm not an advocate of giant exposed steel roller coasters in Disney theme parks. So, to get excited about the roller coasters at Universal as though they're going to inspire something at WDW, doesn't make much sense. Do you want to see this attraction at EPCOT?

No. I also don't want to see it in Jurassic Park, Seuss Landing, or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. But given its theme of the production and post production of a music video. It seems a perfect fit for its inclusion in the Production Central "land" of Uni Studios. Also the last time I checked Universal is not Disney. And has its own set of design parameters. Which are a little less "literal" and more "impressionistic" than Disney's. Such as Dueling Dragons. While I can actually see roller coaster track, I am sentient enough to comprehend the theme. And still think it is a E-Ticket level attraction. For what it is worth I never really thought that BTMRR was an actual runaway mine train.
I was just stating that HRRR doesn't have a franchise tie-in.

It helps to experience these attractions from the eyes of a 10 year old. BTMRR was about the most awesome thing I had ever seen when I was 10. It felt very real.

<< But given its theme of the production and post production of a music video. >>

Yawn. It's a roller coaster. Take off whatever lame theme they've overlaid on it and you get 90% of the same experience. It's purely for physical thrills.

Going back to BTMRR. It's a pretty tame ride as far as coasters go. Without the theme, nobody goes on this thing more than once in their lifetime. The theme for BTMRR is 90% of the attraction experience and is what makes it enduring.
