I raised ( am raising ) 2 kids and I don;t believe DVC Dad has time to read up on early 20th century shipping, or probably time to read much of the Sunday paper.....beign a parent for 6 kids will take most of any time you have left after work.

I am at the part where Doctor Minet et al. are making their escape from France...or trying to. And the good man is staying behind in order to die for them. It is a really great read...took me some time to adjust to the old English, as I have shown before I take a cue from other people quite often and follow their paths for a while. When you told me about Dickens, I thought I would look at it further and I am rewarded for it. I will try Bleak House next. I now am just beginning to understand why so many authors mention Dickens in THEIR works. By the way, thank you for three posts in a row without reply in this thread. I really am sorry to goofy47, I hope he sees it as honesty, I mean that is what it is. Anyway, on the subject of my posts... I am sort of like Dr. Minet, I will have to decide if I should return to France to pursue something further or just stay in England where its safe.
