We need to stop and smell the roses; take our time and savor the splendors. FastPassing beautiful queues is worse than jumping into sex without foreplay.

You have presented your argument quite eloquently. Just because I don't agree doesn't mean that I'm right and you're wrong! I was visiting Disney parks long before FP, and somehow found a way to enjoy myself. But I recognize the shift that FP now brings. And for some people, those who won't take the effort to learn the system, things are far worse than they used to be (well, maybe not far worse, but not as good). But for those of us who do work the system, who understand that the only way to get on Soarin' is to get a FP early and come back later, who are willing to pass up an attraction if it has an 80 minute line, then the current system is much much better.

Now if you are talking about Soarin over Cal. or Space Mountain then I agree-- march right through those boring lines with a FastPass.

So Tokyo will have to wait a few years for me unfortunately. We are however WDW regulars. In fact the Expedition Everest has an awesome queue line.

The standby line didn't move at all -- and when it did only a few people were allowed to move forward because a new stream of FP holders came up, so standby was halted again. The CMs working the line at the time must have been under the impression that FP holders are not to wait at all. IMO there has to be SOME amount of waiting, even if you have a FP. It would have been okay to stop the FP line to allow a dozen or so standby riders down the ramp every so often.

Originally Posted By LacyBelle The ratio seemed pretty unfairly skewed that day. The CMs were allowing the FP line run dry (so to speak) before letting any standby through. When a new CM took over, he remedied the situation and distributed the lines more fairly. I think it was really just a poorly trained CM that was managing the line for the majority of the time we were up there. Just our luck, of course. This was a bit of an anomaly, though. It was the one bad experience I can point to where the FP to standby ratio was handled so poorly.
