Again, does it get us anywhere? That is about as effective as screaming "You suck!" at someone. Might make you feel good but rarely wins hearts and minds.

If he is a bully, let's leave it at that (or rather, confront him about that). If he was African American, would we call him a black bully? Of course not. So, bully is entirely sufficient to make the point.

    >>His bullying is inextricably linked to his weight.<<

Not every overweight person is a bully. Rather, many overweight people are the targets of bullying. Which is exactly the point I was trying to make in this thread.

Attaching a bunch of pre-judgements about an overweight person is something that happens all the time. This is why so many people thing a fat person must be a slob who doesn't care about themselves, probably stupid, lonely, couldn't possibly be funny let alone smart. They deserve our ridicule because really, the shame and mockery in the end will inspire them to lose weight. The bullying is in their best interest.

I'm saying focus on his behavior and policies and words. Lots to work with there without stooping to the lowest common denominator and smarmy fat jokes.

I certainly get agitated from time to time and make things personal when I shouldn't. I think most of us do.

But Critical Thinking 101 says we shouldn't. It should be about the arguments, always. I can't think of a worse way to disagree with someone than by pointing out their physical appearance. Chris Christie has legislation he has signed in New Jersey. He has a record we can carefully inspect since he was elected and before. He has hundreds of statements he has made we can review.

Unless Chris Christie is running to be your personal trainer, there is absolutely no reason to bring up his weight* and doing so only makes liberals look bad. Like Breitbart bullying bad. And I freaking hated Andrew Breitbart.

*Agree that if he actually does become a serious contender, his health is important and should be a part of the conversation in a respectful way.
