Oh, I think of that every time I walk down Main Street! I love the taste of Olive Garden food but have to wear an elastic waste as I bloat up if I eat there. One thing I really miss is Casa de Fritos and their Chili Colorado.
This one's been gone for quite a few years: the peppered-yellow-gravy hot turkey sandwiches at the French Market. I've been, back to WDW once -- at most -- since Alfredo's closed, and I didn't care much for its successor (looking at the menu, I don't see a lot that appeals to me). I also miss the prime rib dinners at Cinderella's and at Rose & Crown. Not so much the prime rib at Le Cellier (as I recall, it tasted like the chef didn't understand that prime rib is a ROAST, not a STEAK, and tried to make it taste like the latter). Does any Disney restaurant (WDW or DLR) even still serve prime rib?
I'm not sure about all restaurants, but I know WDW took prime rib off of the buffets circa 2008. At the time, the PR spin was that guests complained that it took up too much space on the plate, which seems like a pretty silly excuse at an all-you-can-eat buffet where you're welcome to use as many plates as you like. Why not just say that they're taking it off due to cost concerns, or lack of guest interest? Heaven forbid we're honest about these sorts of things! I imagine it must be on the menu at one of the restaurants somewhere, but nothing immediately pops into my head
I don't think Prime Rib is available at any Disney restaurant. To get Prime Rib on property you would need to go to Shula's Steak House at the Dolphin Hotel.
Oh man, I really miss the themed sundae's too! one of my fondest memories was when I was twelve and my Brother and ganged up on my Mom regarding what we were having for lunch. We ended up having a Matterhorn sundae, a Splash Mountain and then hitting up the Candy Palace on the way out. We were extremely sick! The biggest thing is miss is the old breakfast menu at the Carnation café. It was tradition to always have at least one breakfast at the café each trip, but we haven't been back since the change. My favorite menu item was the cinnamon bun French toast I also do miss the old Market House too, I am a avid Starbucks drinker and I actually miss the coffee. I used to love the flavored seasonal drip coffee, and on cooler days I would take advantage of the free refills.
For me, it would definitely be the Mickey shaped chicken nuggets. I know they have regular chicken tenders throughout Disneyland now, but it's not the same! They were one of my absolute favorite things to eat at the park, and I was so sad when they got rid of them in the mid 2000s I think? I remember nearly everywhere had taken them off of the menu during a trip we took for my birthday except for the Storyteller's Cafe. I really do not like that restaurant, but I begged my parents to take me there for my birthday dinner just so I could have the Mickey chicken nuggets. Imagine my disappointment when I treid to order them and a cast member informed me that they no longer made those and needed to reprint the menu!
I always loved the Rice Crispie Treats that I bought down by Splash Mountain. They used to be made there. They were dipped in chocolate and delicious. Now they are mass produced somewhere, wrapped in cellophane and taste like store bought, not home made.
I miss the Red Beans and Rice with Andouille that they used to serve at the French Market Cafe. Soooo good!!
Last weekend's visit to DL underscored just how much I still miss the hot turkey sandwich I mentioned clear back in 2016. Even though I think it's been gone longer than it was ever there.
I will also note that on my way to DL this past Sunday, I had lunch at the former Spires (now Goldenwest Diner) at Euclid and Ball, and they had a decent enough yellow-gravy hot turkey sandwich. Not as good as one I had a few months back in Whittier, at an establishment called Jack's, but given how hard yellow gravy hot turkey sandwiches are to find, I'll take what I can get.
