    Fresh laid tarmac reminds me of my Grandad as he used to work on the roads crew also to remind me of him there was a hand gel stuff he used after work to clean off oil and Tar I should think it is the same one Nuut mentioned I love that too.

    Oh my gosh... I thought I was the only one. I love fresh alfalfa in the field, I love the smell of it drying in a rotary alfalfa dryer.

    I have to add the smell of tobacco. Not pipe tobacco or cigars or cigarettes, but just plain tobacco. When I lived in North Carolina, on fall nights when the breeze was just right, you could smell the barns full of drying tobacco. We were in the city, so it didn't happen too often (maybe 10 times a year), but there's just something about that smell that's very comforting to me, even though nobody in my family smokes. I can just remember walking the dog late at night, and seeing a full sky of starts, and smelling the tobacco drying. It was a very pleasant smell, and just added to the crispness in the air. If they ever do a "Soarin' over North Carolina" I really hope that they include that scent, as it's very distinct and next to impossible to find anywhere else.
