    (1) There already is an overabundance of upscale golf in the SoCal area - spectacular venues like Pelican Hill in Newport Coast are offering discounts to get people to play -- why would somebody want to pay big money to play something built in a bunch of people's backyards when 30 minutes away are at least 54 holes of golf overlooking the Pacific Ocean?

    (2) Property has no elevation changes or natural features - even genius like Tom Fazio would have a tough time doing something compelling and exciting on this piece of land .....

    (3) WDW has pristine wetlands and pine forests - lots of land to allow courses with separation between holes and "natural" feel, not to mention plenty of water for lakes, hazards, etc.
Strawberry Fields has visible power lines and is hemmed in by backyards and Harbor Blvd ......

This sounds like a very bad idea .................

10 minutes away by freeway the fairly small city of Brea has 4 large quality golf courses.

Beautiful golf courses have been built and molded out of empty lot rough wastelands, but the 'strawberry field' becoming a golf course, in the already 'links' rich OC, is a very bad idea IMO.
Anaheim already has a couple courses, including the world famous "Dad" Miller Country Club.(He was 101 and hit a hole-in-one or some similiar feat). Also OC itself has many many courses.

Will the 3rd park 'look and layout' be more 'urban or suburban' in theme and appearance than DCA?
    Time will tell.

Who said it would be adult exclusive? The original Disneyland golf course wasn't, and I bet if this one's built, it won't be, either. When Walt ran Disneyland, there was a Disneyland Golf Course.

I don't know whether this is a good or bad thing for the resort, but if the majority of people want a golf course, then I guess it could work. But I for one don't have any interest in golf, so to me it's kind of disappointing, and I think it's a waste of space.

I'd be underwhelmed by a golf course instead of something that would attract larger crowds of users/visitors. But I didn't really frown as much at such a possible use of the DisCo's property until your description reminded me of the logistical/aesthetic limitations ("backyards" -- and/or those apartment buildings lining the south side of the site -- in particular) found in Anaheim.

A golf course can be built on flat land, too. You just truck in some dirt and plant some trees. Or you can also scoop dirt out of one area, and put it in another. Not a big deal.

So perhaps they add a golf course as an interim thing until they're confident that adding a third park makes sense? (I'd think a golf course would be relatively easy to take out, plus you'd have some trees/landscaping that could probably be saved for the 3rd park). Perhaps it could even make them some money - although I have NO idea how many years a golf course needs to be open to recoup its costs.

In fact, I'd say a third theme park would probably be the last theing they need right now.

They might be more interested in offering a more rounded set of amusements to the general public than in adding more of the same to what they already have.

I think you're right. Have you seen them? They are absolutely gorgeous and are first-rate courses used by professionals. They're also situated out in the middle of WDW property where you put around wildlife and beautiful surroundings.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the surroundings there in Anaheim would be just slightly different.

Well, a water park makes sense on Simba, as many people have said. Too small for anything else except retail, really, and when the 2nd large parking structure is built, this seems to me a good use for that land.

There's no way they'll start on a 3rd park right now, as they still need to establish DLR as a two-park complex and round out DCA. So a golf course might make sense on the strawberry field as an interim move, as I said. But in the long term, if they're serious about DLR as a multi-day destination, I think they need a third park.

Maybe they'll conclude that Anaheim won't support a third park, who knows? But I would hope that they still would assign some brains to blue-sky the idea of the strawberry field as a third park, for whenever they decide to go that route, even if they build a golf course first.
