This woman stood up right as it started and blocked the view of many of the children in the area. She was off to the side of us so it didn't impact us. However, their parents got upset (understandably so) and the lady was really indignant. Several people in the surrounding area asked her (politely) to please sit down and she got rather rude and vocal. A CM noticing the problem immediately came over and asked her to either sit down or leave the area. Before the CM got there I was really afraid it was going to come to blows between that woman and another guest. I "once" and only once ever had a problem with another guest at DL. It was night and late and there was a line to see one of the characters in front of the train station. We were the second in line with our daughter, with an obvious long line behind us, and two small children in front of us. I saw a woman walk up with a little girl of about 8 or 9, look at the long line, then intentionally point and push her daughter towards the character, thereby getting ready to cut-off the two small children in front of us. I very nicely, and extremely politely, said something like, "sweetheart, these girls are in front of you, and actually honey the line ends way back there". Again, anyone that knows me knows that I am very, very sweet mannered with kids and I am very cautious about never hurting a child's feelings. Well, this lady who tried to get her kid to cut comes up to me and starts berating me in front of everyone and getting in my face. "How dare you speak to my little girl like that!" "I don't know who you think you are!" "How can you be so mean to a child?" At that moment I looked at her (reminding myself that my daughter was standing right there with me) and very quietly but firmly said, "I have never in my life been mean, rude, or hurtful to any child. If you think calling a child sweetheart and honey is "mean" then I suggest you remove your finger from my face before I ask my husband to take my daughter for a walk. I will then very happily show you the true meaning of the word." Not once did I raise my voice, but it must have been the quietness and seriousness in the manner in which I said it because she quite promptly grabbed her little girl's hand and hurried off. My daughter just looked at me and said, "Mommy, why was that lady mad at you? You weren't mean." I just explained that sometimes people just get overly excited by all the Disney magic that they just don't know how to properly handle themselves, but that we musn't ever forget to live by the rules and patiently wait our turn.

I had been scheduled off for the 4th of July. I was asked to work that day. I said only if I can work a day shift so I can have the night free to watch the Illuminations show and fireworks over the lagoon and take pictures. The team lead said that's when they would need me so no problem with the day shift. That day was horrible working. The park was packed to the gills. There were TONS of Brazillian tours and tour guests. All the "please move the the end of the row, no eating, drinking, smoking, or flash photography" didn't matter to them. The big thing they did was make like they didn't understand me speaking english. I was working the Kitchen Kabaret and worked up a sweat in all the double knit polyester. I finally asked a tour guide how to get through to them. He told me how to do the spiel in portugese (can't remember it for a damn today). They still didn't listen. They thought it was funny. In particular was this one family that wouldn't move down the row, stood up to take flash pictures...they were AWFUL. The english and the portugese didn't matter, they did what they wanted. The joke among the CMs that day was "We hope the last one out of the country turned off the lights!" I got off work, went to wardrobe and changed. I then was forced to go back up to the front gate to enter the park. They had security set to keep plain clothes CMs from entering the park via the backstage areas. Well, I parked myself in front of the fence around the World Showcase Lagoon and set up my tripod. I got there 3 hours early and still wasn't the first one there. The people there talked and shared stories. It was a good time. As we got closer to the time of the show people were still standing and more were filing in. Ten minutes before the show it got really crowded and the majority of it was the Brazillian tour groups just showing up. They're in the back demanding that the people up front sit down. We ignored them until they started throwing pennies and batteries (AA) at us. When I got hit with one battery on my back I turned around and lo and behold who was it? That's right the family that gave me the most trouble earlier in the day!! There was instant recognition between them and me. That was it, I blew my top. I pointed my finger right at them waved the finger aound and said, "OOOHHHHHH....so now you can speak english! All day I've been asking you to move down the row, sit down, don't take flash pictures. I spoke to you in english and portugese and you act like you don't understand me. You've been rude and uncooperative and now you want me to sit down?!? I've been here for 3 hours and you just show up now and want the best seats in the house?!? Well....I came in through the front gate just like you did and It doesn't matter if you call management. You didn't listen to me earlier today when I asked you to sit down so NO, I'M NOT GOING TO SIT DOWN NOW!!" With that I turned around and faced the lagoon again. The people around me started clapping and cheering saying "that's right...you tell them", "Yeah, they've been rude" and other words of encouragement. The tour groups, specifically that family was not happy with me. I did endure some more pennies being thrown at me but that shortly stopped after the Illunimatioins show began. It was good to have the support of the crowd. I got some good shots that night.
