When rules like no-flash photography are not enforced, then in effect they go away like is happening on Pirates and HM. It becomes mob rule and even people that would otherwise follow the rules say "what the heck" and start breaking them.

Because no one but a judge should have the authority to delete your photos. You should not be detained for refusing to delete your photos. They should only be able to ask you to leave WITH your photos.

If the photos are illegal, that's for the courts to decide.

But you can certainly use the photo or video in a money-making endeavor, just not for commercial use, which is a commonly misunderstood term.

"Commercial use" means using a person's likeness to endorse some product or service. What you can't do is go to Disneyland, take pictures and slap them onto advertisements or commercials for your travel agency. To do so you would need to have a release signed for everyone in the photograph.

What you can do is go to Disneyland, take pictures and sell them to people as prints. You can also sell them to news agencies for use in a story. You can put photos on your web site that is plastered with ads. You just can't use the photo to advertise or promote the web site site or news agency itself.

So yes, you can go to Disneyland and take pictures not just for private use.

So breaking it did you no benefit. And the other people in here see us doing this, and won't be tempted to break the rule themselves.

Issues I see with flash picture people. There are a few type.
    1) foreign tourists who don't speak English (or Spanish). We had some on one of our trips through POTC this week. Very nice seeming people, just no clue what the spiel said, or what anyone else was trying to tell them.
    2) people who don't know how to run their own camera. LOTS of people I've met that have no idea how their camera works, or that you CAN turn the flash off. Gentle words to members of your party who may suffer from this could help, but sometimes you can get them to stop taking pictures if they can't turn it off.
    3) selfish pig people who just don't care. LOTS of those around. Again, if common sense and manners WERE common, we wouldn't have to discuss them...

DL, no. The Vatican, obviously yes.

There's still nothing wrong with DL taking the offenders aside and telling them to knock it off, and why. There are some people who are so selfish they just won't care and will keep doing it. But there are plenty of others who won't understand WHY you shouldn't take the pics, and when it's explained to them they will get it.

They have even gone so far as to have lockers at the entrance of every ride where you have to store all your loose items, including cells phones and fanny packs. If someone is caught breaking the rules (almost all rides have video surveillance) they escort you from the ride directly to a security guard. In the case of photos (I actually saw this happen) they delete the photos and have the option of having the offender ejected from the park.

Their theory is that everyone is paying good money to enter the park and why should someone have the right to ruin another's good time by behaving rudely.
