I personally believe that our current warming has more to do with the variation in the Sun's Magnetic Field than with human activity. But I have also stood on a mountaintop that has been decimated by acid rain, changes that have happened before my eyes as I have been going there since I was a child. What does it hurt to go green. Eventually we will have to either way as our oil supply will not last forever. To MPierce's point, I think we are nuts if we think corporations are going to go green out of concern for the environment. The will continue to pollute as much as they are allowed. The same with China and India. I recently read about a village in China where the cancer rate was over 60 percent. THey were the first village down river from a government run mine which was polluting the river which was their main water supply and nothing was being done to stop the pollution despite numerous complaints. They just don't care about the average person. How can we expect a government that will poison it's own people to care about the world?
