I agree with SuzieQ. I don't think someone needs to describe their vomit and diarrhea for us to get the point. LOL

My husband even had a fever during this episode.

Everyone told us that it was something just he and I ate a few days before since no one else got sick. But he and I were the only ones who drank those blackberry margaritas too. We will both swear to this day that we had some bad berries in those drinks!!

"The main symptoms of viral gastroenteritis are watery diarrhea and vomiting. Other symptoms are headache, fever, chills, and abdominal pain. Symptoms usually appear within 4 to 48 hours after exposure to the virus and last for 1 to 2 days, though symptoms can last as long as 10 days."

I usually just make sure I've got my Purell (in addition to washing my hands regularly), take some Airborne, and put Neosporin in the front of my nostrils periodically throughout the day. The Neosporin thing sound weird, I know, but my mom does it every day and never gets sick because it helps ward off the infections you might be breathing in.

I drink out of water bottles instead of drinking fountains, stay away from First Aid if I can, never touch the escalator railings and open all doors with my sweatshirt sleeve or my shoulder instead of my hand. Oh, and according to surveys done, most people don't use the first bathroom stall (unless there is a line), so often that very first stall is the cleanest. People also tend to walk to their right because the majority are right handed, so try the left side instead.

We leave next Thursday and now I'm just paranoid, the flu is also going around my daughter's school. I swear I usually get a cold from the plane but getting the stomach bug is not an option!

Love the Neosporin idea, I will try anything. We also drink pure Aloe Vera juice, found at health stores, right before a trip and it seems to help the immune system.

Looks like I'll be taking down my huge bag of OTC drugs just in case!

(I have Type B blood. I wonder if that's why I didn't get it, even though it's highly contagious and I was the one cleaning up after my daughter the most. Of course, I also was up to my elbows in bleach and Lysol, trying to decontaminate every possible surface in our home!)

    "take some Airborne"

The only thing in Airborne that actually does anything is the zinc. Ther rest of it does nothing.

Last year I noticed a friend of mine had a full size Purell pump in her car. She said as soon as she gets in the car she puts some into her hands and hopes that it takes off some of the germs that she has just picked up. She said that the little purse size ones can be forgotten but when that pump is sitting in your cup holder it's pretty hard to ignore. So now I have one in my car too :)
