Like you, I am the same way! We are planning a trip for 16 and I am trying to make reservations, get priority seating, etc. Its hard when no one else is the planning type. However, I know if we wait until the last minute, we won't be able to accomplish everything or get reservations so I am taking this part on.

Tapdancemom is right. The portions are large and my family (3 of us) often shares meals. Although we are not huge eaters, we find plenty to fill us up for an affordable price. I just really like staying in the park from opening to closing and experiencing every moment I can in the park.

Also, if you want to cut down on pricing and still enjoy places like the BB, what we do is eat an early dinner and get a late reservation for dessert! That way you still get to enjoy the atmosphere. Plus, I LOVE their chocolate mousse! You have got to try it if you haven't already!!![lol...just to warn you though in case you ask the CM for it....last time we were there I ordered the mousse, and the CM didn't have a clue what I was talking about....she finally asked me if I was talking about the "chocolate pudding". Yikes! Someone really needed to give that girl a spoon so she could figure the difference between the two!!! Chocolate mousse is *heaven*]

There are lots of ways to saving money and still enjoy meals in the park.

The longest I have been able to give them up is the duration of Lent, and by the time that is over, don't get between me and my car on my way to 7-11! Other than that, I'm not normally a sweet eater [unless its chocolate mousse]...but I'll happily take a big bag of potato chips!

Seriously, if you want to break from your diet restrictions, try the mousse. Yes, it is rich, but I don't think it would make you sick because it is too rich. Happy compromise!

A few years ago, we made the mistake of reserving for dinner -no Monte Cristo, and waaay overpriced.

This trip instead of eating a meal there (it would be too expensive for dinner for everyone, we made a dinner reservation and are just going in for coffee and desert. We originally had a 5:20 reservation when it was just going to be our family, but now that the whole group wants to go they had to back it down to 4:30 to accomodate us.
