DAR, you seem to keep confusing people that have been accused of doing the wrong thing with those that actually have.

A great, funny parody of what ordering a pizza will be like in the future, courtesy of the ACLU.

Well considering the majority of the accused have done the wrong thing it shouldn't really matter.

I call BS on that, DAR. We don't KNOW that the accused have done anything - they haven't even been given the basic right to a fair trial yet, remember? We've just jailed them and started treating them like trash.

You have no evidence and yet you condemn them. That, my friend, is as un-American as you can possibly get.

    Actually, no.

Even if you assume that all *are* in fact, guilty, most of them did not kill anyone.

But don't let that stop you, DAR. You've got a mindset and you're not gonna let any facts get in the way of it!

Wow. Apparently, DAR found a sale at "Cliche'd Rhetoric-R-Us."

Mayor: Now, Drebin, I don't want any trouble like you had on the South Side last year. That's my policy.

Frank: Well, when I see five weirdos, dressed in togas, stabbing a man in the middle of the park in full view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's MY policy!

Mayor: That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of 'Julius Caesar,' you moron! You killed five actors! Good ones!

My pick was "99 Bottle of Beer on the Wall," but whatever.

How many times do we have to say "if they're guilty, we should let them rot" before it sinks in. I know for a fact I've used that VERY TERM before.

But here's the thing. I'm pretty sure if you'd been asked about the Guantanamo prisoners in, say, 2003, you'd have said the same thing, i.e. "most of them killed innocent people." But since then we've let quite a number go, convinced they did nothing wrong. Many of them were turned over for bounty money or by rival tribes from that very tribal part of the world.

Unfortunately, many of them now have a far worse view of the US than they did before they were wrongly arrested and imprisoned for years, and they bring that view home with them, but that's not even the point. The point is you have been CONVINCED for as long as I've been reading your posts that virtually all of the people we arrested were in fact terrorists. But plenty of them weren't.

If there's a case to be made against these guys, make it. Prove it, then throw them in jail and let them rot.

But don't subvert our system of justice, one of the things that supposedly makes us different and better than the people we're fighting.

Now this story talks about the Saudi's being upset because 11 of the men on their most wanted were released from Guantanamo.

There's probably some innocent people there, but this is 11 too many that we released.

Is that your standard of justice? As long as 51% of a set of people imprisoned did something wrong, it's okay to lock them all up?

And DAR, what do you think about US citizens that have been declared "enemy combatants?"

    And screw the international treaties!

Interesting that you say US, (as in "us"), rather than U.S., but I guess that's not so surprising.

By the way, DAR, I wonder if you realize the fact that a bunch of LPers are very fond of you. It's not like you're making enemies here or anything.

If I were you, I'd pay closer attention to what SuperDry has to say rather than reject his comments out of hand (if you don't listen to the radio, I have to say that it's pretty odd that you manage to come up with, word for word, a great deal of propaganda slogans that are solidly out of the mouths of the right wing radio guys).

SuperDry is one of the smartest people you're ever going to meet, AND one of the most even handed when it comes to parsing out the facts from the rhetoric...if he's giving you a hard time, there's a good reason for it. ;)
