You hate Obama for purely emotional reasons. You hate the Dems for purely emotional reasons. You continue to quote far right pundits who also hate Obama and the Dems and who are constantly spewing lies and misinformation about what they've done and what they wish to do to get our nation back on track which you've chosen to believe time and time again. You've constantly ignored or dismissed factual information about Obama and the Dems which others here have presented to you again and again and again. Your irrational emotional judgments of Obama and the Dems have clouded your critical thinking. This is not an attack. This is fact.

I'm sure everyone including Obama wishes it had worked better, but to say it was a failure is foolish.

There isn't a corresponding "dust bowl" where food production is threatened. And our current Standard of Living is so high and with the social safety net we do have, that if we suffer the same "contraction" we won't end up with so many truly destitute people; at least for awhile. So it won't look the same. The higher we've climbed, the longer it takes to fall. But, I am at about 75% for when history looks back at this period of time, it will be called a Depression. It's only because we're in the middle of it, that we won't call it that. So many people, and especially Congresspeople and state legislators are so hypersensitive concerning debt. I don't see how we avoid another round of cascading job loses. Which means this ride, is far from over. Like in a movie, when an elevator drops, and then the emergency breaks catch, and it stabilizes for a bit. But how long will they hold? In the movie, they never do. A question, I find myself asking is, all this "drunk as a sailor spending," has led to purchases that shouldn't have happened. At restaurants, entertainment venues, tricked out cars, furniture stores to find all the things to put in McMansions. Clothing and shoe stores to fill out all our "walk-in" closets, and every other type of discretionary spending. So if the music stops, and the government stops the orgy of spending, and whether through job loss or unavailable credit, citizens stop their orgy of spending, what happens to the jobs? How many jobs and small businesses are, right now, supported with "debt dollars," and frankly, shouldn't exist? And without those jobs, what does America look like? I have no idea, but everyone that is serious on debt reduction, needs to start thinking about it.

Because if they go down, we all go down, and hard. But to use an analogy. If you found out someone close to you had no food for their baby, and their electricity had been turned off. You might float them some money. Some will use that as intended, food and electricity. But there will be those that will take the money, run to the nearest casino for that last big score. They might even end up winning for awhile, but we know what happens in the end. As I mentioned earlier, I am afraid that too many bankers took their bailout and decided to play the derivatives game with it. I don't think the heads of our various government financial agencies, and the European ones are giving off an aura of "we've got this under control." More of a concentrated, pushing of buttons and a "try it now, is anything happening?" As long as everyone keeps throwing things at walls to see if something sticks, I'm officially worried.

(Ask poor Al Smith how his 1928 Presidential campaign against Hoover went.) Our problem is, thanks to Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower (and Presidents until Reagan) we really had a good gig. It wasn't perfect, sure, but we had fair taxation, we had social programs that worked for those who needed it most, etc. That's what we're comparing today to, instead of, say, labor conditions in New York factories in the late nineteenth-century, or the robber barrons, or [insert crummy American thing here].

I think they realize Jesus is not on this Earth. But really, one of his fine flock will be suitable. Rick Perry, a Koch brother...someone like that will do.

That is, some "fact" become outdated. E.g, didn't you know we are at war with Nazi Germany? Might have been true in 1942, not so much today. It's an outdated fact. The article you cited is largely equivalent. The "facts" therein are principally outdated.
