we had friends who are members of our local Disney collectors club at DLP when 9/11 happened also. They were delayed in getting home by almost a week

Are the parks like the resorts and run separately because it seems to be in better shape. <<

That shows you maintinance can be done, when the proper folks show a little concern for the Parks apperance.

We stayed at the Poly, and it was 30% occupied.

Except standing in the hub at DLP when they switched the music, waterfalls and everything off, with 10's of thousands of people stood still and crying. That was the freakiest moment in a Disney park ever.

I was then interviewed for the news on TV in Paris - it was very strange.

That had to be unbelievable. I was at the parks for the second shuttle crash, and it definetly felt much different. Not on the scale that you experienced in Paris though Dave. I imagine it was extremely difficult for you getting through that interview.

That was a good healthy attitude to take. I wish more Americans would have done the same. We certainly can't allow a bunch of fanatical terrorist to cause the World to live in fear.

I was then asked my biggest fear. And I stated "I hope the US uses calmness and does not use this as an excuse for military intervention"

Sadly my crystal ball was working.

It was very, very difficult. I decided to spend a fortune on meals, expensive wines, and bought Sarah the Cinderella China she always admired. She asked me why, stating it was too much. And I said, you only have one life.

when I got back, I found out we lost some colleagues in New York, my cousin was injured in the Pentagon, and my CEO was at the Twin Towers 1 hour before the 1st plane hit. It was a difficult time, but not as difficult as those directly affected.

what I did feel sorry for was the evil treatment one family had when their baby cried during the silence. Everyone shot them daggers. It's not like babies will know.

The whole experience did make DLP feel very different for me for a while, and I think that day, some of the Disney magic in me died.

You were merely displaying that a bunch of hoodlums will not interfer in our day to day lives. Look at the baseball games when they finally got underway again. The folks wanted to demonstrate that we have continued with our normal lives.

I think a little bit of Magic died in all of us that day. America now knows what Europe has felt for years. I don't think we liked that feeling very much. Sometimes we tend to think that we are isolated from the rest of the real world.
