Like the job Al, Meg, Erin, Phil and Co are doing? <<Funny that some posters rave about the other Disney parks yet don't post in those sections, only here where the love bash seems to be in vogue.>> What's funny about that? Bashing's more constructive than gushing ...

I was originally going to post that I don't like to argue with Spirit, I just like to present an alternative point of view. I feel Spirit presents one view that is valid. I feel that I present another. Spirit is after what he thinks Walt's vision would be. I realize that Walt died 42 years ago and that no company in American history has maintained the founders vision that long after his death. I just ask that the Disney Parks continue to be more fun for me to visit than any other Theme Parks in America. So far they have always been. They are meeting my expectations. There are not many companies that do that today. Oh, for Spirit... Ppphhhhhhhhtttttt......... get over yourself. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

I'm also trying to avoid wasting everyone's time by having arguments. I'm not going to pretend I like someone to make everyone else happy. I'm trying to enjoy these boards without turning this into an issue - please let me do that.

Problem is the WDW ignorami do not tend to read them.

And I've never said your opinions (however crazy, absurd or just plain nuts) aren't valid! They're your opinions and I believe you are entitled to them (although I'd have to check the Patriot Act to be sure ... sorry, I think I owe MPierce a Smokey and the Bandit 2 DVD for that comment!) <<Spirit is after what he thinks Walt's vision would be. I realize that Walt died 42 years ago and that no company in American history has maintained the founders vision that long after his death.>> Nope. Nope. Nope. See, this is where someone reads me and thinks they know where I am coming from but somehow takes a giant leap from one point to the other. I am so not one of those WWWD (what would Walt do?) people. I am so far from that. The world had changed in so many ways, some for the better, some most assuredly not. I don't have a clue what Walt would do or feel about most things. I do think it's safe to say he wouldn't want his name on parks that aren't being maintained to standards he (and his followers) set ... I also think it's pretty safe to say when he said 'Here in Florida we have the blessing of land ... enough for the ideas we can possibly imagine' that he wasn't referring to building a timeshare empire. ... I can also be pretty sure he wouldn't find WDW's buses to be magical ... or even acceptable for transporting guests paying $400 a night. But much beyond that, I wouldn't speculate. I am more concerned with how the parks are run based upon what DISNEY CONDITIONED ME TO EXPECT! Go back ... read that. Blow it up. Print it out. Tape it above your computer. I only want what Disney led me to expect whenever I enter their ever-less-green realm in Central Florida. More often than not, they disappoint in new and creative ways (charging for bread at JIKO!???!!!!!!?!) <<I just ask that the Disney Parks continue to be more fun for me to visit than any other Theme Parks in America.>> That's not saying very much though. That's kind of like saying you'll be happy with Target instead of WalMart ... sure one is much better, but they're still a basic property. I expect for WDW's premium pricing and placement in the market to get a Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus experience. And way too often, I am not getting Target in Orlando, but WalMart. <<So far they have always been. They are meeting my expectations. There are not many companies that do that today.>> Too often today they don't even come close to meeting my greatly reduced expectations when they're supposed to EXCEED them. And you may find this difficult to believe, but I'm much easier to please than many of their guests are. <<Oh, for Spirit... Ppphhhhhhhhtttttt......... get over yourself. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.>> Right back at you!

I only have it on VHS.

We are only "holding" them to the standards that they themselves created and flaunted for the better part of the company's existence. They used to set not only the standard but exceeded it in the same breathe. Things the company used to use as bench markers for the competition are now only even or below everyone else. -em

Indeed the constitution has altered, but in an attempt for the betterment of America. WDW has gotten worse and worse for the last 10 years. It's as bad as Dl was 10 years ago if not worse. I know the world has changed, but the ability to keep it well kept, and to inspire humanity has not. But Disney has lost track of this vision (thankfully there are still a few at Disney that keep my faith going, but not as many). To me, WDW feels like a grand hotel in a City. When it was built, it was inspiring and deserved it's high reputation. Over the years, maintenance was cut, and certain areas have been refurbed. There are a few staff members who remember or aspire to deliver the experience of it's heyday. But overall it is tired and worn, and in need of TLC. Defended by those who either know no better or have great personal memories they cling on to. The sad thing is, the others in the chain still offer the original promise. And for those of us who have had the experience of those (plus the eroding one in it's glory days), get really angered. This is the problem with WDW.
