So ... let's all try harder.

Unless you want to talk politics? <<

<<It's up to over 300 now. Do I get extra points for posting on both?>>

I was VERY plesantly surprised to see you over on that other site, dear minion.

I honestly though can't believe that they are headed toward 400 (without me stuffing the ballot box) and here the thread is kinda dead.

Frankly, the whole board here is kinda dead. I guess I am not the only one who is pretty bored with WDW's stale offerings.

<<I'll be up for a good political debate in about 2 weeks. I think I should be over the shock of the election by then, hopefully.>>

I have no desire to discuss anything political at this point. I am happy about last night. A little bit of faith in the American people and our system of electing leaders has been restored to me.

My only shock is that it was such a landslide.

If I were Prez Elect Obama, I'd be making a call to thank 'W' ... because I don't believe he would have been elected, and certainly not so easily, if people weren't so disgusted by what a state that faux-Texan has put us in.

I dunno, but if it was someone calling me names I'd have liked to have seen it.

I'm a big spirit and names don't hurt me. Bad shellfish can take me out, though.

OK, so the country and the planet are a mess (we're in agreement there, right?) and you find my posts about WDW depressing?

Sounds like you need to get your priorties straight.

<<You must have been that kid who never got the buck rodgers toy ray gun for Christmas.>>

My deepest, darkest shame ... outed on a Disney discussion board ... please excuse me while I go eat 56 sleeping pills with a gallon of vodka!

<<Disney is going to continue to make quality product, you just have to patient.>>

The questions is whether they're going to make quality products at WDW. I have total faith they can and will make quality products elsewhere.

And, no, after sitting thru years of largely forgettable crap (from Imagination 2.0 and 3.0 to Mission Space, yeah they tried on that one but failed spectacularly, to SGE to MILF to DinoLand to Aladdin's spinner etc ...) I don't have to be patient.

They lost that from me a good 5-6 years ago. Too much crap piled on pooh piled on turd passed off as new and magical experiences.

<<You are the one who constantly argues with people when they talk about upcoming project rumors, and then you go ahead and get upset when disney doesn't give you any upcoming project rumors to complain about.>>

I don't quite understand the above. Rest assured, if Disney were about to make a lot of positive substanitive changes and additions I'd be touting them hear with bells and whistles.

I don't get excited by the building of timeshares.

Or free tickets on my B-Day.

    Or American Idol.

<<Don't worry, WDW is doing a bunch of things that you will be able to flash your annual pass at to get a sneek peek.>>

    Really? Like what?

<<I am sure you already heard about the annual pass 3d exclusive for the osbourne family spectacle of lights.>>

No biggee. It's a light show ... a nice one. But it isn't exactly new or fresh.

<<Spirit, I got nothing against you, you are probably a nice person outside of all of this, but you need to stop attacking disney for no reason.>>

I'm actually a terrible person who beats nuns for fun and microwaves kitties even when I am not hungry.

And I don't 'attack' Disney for no reason.

I criticize and I do where it is very called for.

I think I agree with that sentiment.

I am so tired of them being so reactionary.

Go back to setting the standard and doing the impossible.

WalMarting the product into The Timeshare Kingdom of the World is just a very quick scheme to fill the coffers and, in this economy, it's not the sure fire cash cow it was in 2005.

DL absolutely is to anyone who understands history and what that place has meant to the world.

But corporate has basically decreed that the MK is the flagship of the park chain just as the GF is the flagship of the hotel chain.

Quality isn't a factor in either of those decisions either.

I just wonder how long this Joyus Honeymoon will last, and the people realize that unchecked politicians from both parties got us into this mess.

Qustion: What did one buzzard say to the other buzzard while cicling a injured deer?

Answer: Patients HELL, I want to kill something!

Losers, and also rans sit on the side lines, while leaders act.
Disney use to be innovative, and set the extremely high standards for themselves that others would have to try, and achieve. It seems now that Disney is content on sitting around hoping that they don't have to act. They rely on their past reputation rather than creating even higher standards for the Millions of Disney fans. They are becoming a cheap imitation of the great vision that their founder Walt Disney had. They are acting like a bunch of slick, stiff suits that no longer have the vision nor the magic that is Disney.

Well ... some of us believe that one party (and one individual) was more to blame.

And I don't expect a honeymoon, but I do expect a lot more people in this country are going to feel a lot more empowered and a whole lot less hopeless and on the sidelines ... and that can only lead to more action, which can only help all Americans.

I still can't believe that an African-American won a landslide election in George Bush's Walmarted America. I think we grew up ... if only a bit it was a significant bit. I can only tell you that I feel like a cloud has lifted and whether that is reality or in my head or (most likely) a bit of both, it doesn't matter.

It's amazing what a change of attitude can do ...

I don't have anything at all to add.

These words say it all and deserve to be repeated!

Sir, I can tell YOU that here, even in Perth Western Australia, about as far away from the US as you can get, people seemed to be smiling a little bit more today. EVERYBODY I spoke with in the last 36 hours said how happy they were Obama was elected.

I have been extremely down on the US for the last few years. I will admit that started after the '04 shame when the Monkey was re-elected. I actually felt let down by America.

A lot of the rest of the world WANTS to like America. God knows I grew up idolizing it. Our faith had fallen because of the past eight years.

People are feeling a whole lot better about the US right now.

    This is your opportunity.

Do NOT mess it up.....for ALL of our sakes.

Hey Bob, you are not alone. As an American, I felt that way too. And maybe WDW annoys me so much because it is surrounded by Bush's enclave.

It feels like a cleansing wave is sweeping through the White House and Palpatine is being thrown into the reactor core.

Let's talk in four years when this country is really in bad shape. At least You won't be taxed to death! You might even have some extra dollars to visit WDW, because I know I won't!
I know this isn't the popular view on this site, but I take my chances. At least we are still free to voice an opinion, for awhile.

I would totally disagree. But then, that is freedom of speech.

    >>>Let's talk in four years when this country is really in bad shape.<<<

Worse than now??? I hope not. California was feeling 2nd world on our last trip home earlier this year.

Maybe, but I wouldn't spend them there when there are better Disney resorts around the globe to spend the cash.

Funny, I thought the Patriot Act coupled with Dixie Chicks gate took that away. I suspect people will be much more free to voice their opinions than the coming years. One can only hope.

Since most of us have been numerous times, it does not have the same affect, and now you notice a whole lot more.
After your initial viit, the second visit you see something you didn't the first time, and the same with your third visit, so by the time you visit as many times as Spirit, most magic has been experienced if not all, and the only things that really stand out are all the imperfections you didn't notice your first few times.
People coming through the gates their first times still get that wonderful magical experience we all once had.
I do not doubt things are not up to par as they used to be, I only started going in 95. Maybe Disney doesn't need the long time very frequent return guest who picks at everything. Maybe they just want to cater to all new people. Not really a smart business plan, though.
