Of course it does. Especially in the context of the network's overall reporting. What about the ACORN scandal? What about Shirley Sherrod? What about the New Black Panthers? Fox does this sort of untruthful reporting all the time. You were right when you said that Fox News should be taken off the air.

This attempt at equivalence won't fly. Unless you can find MSNBC anchors using the bat boy tabloid as an actual news source. Good luck.

Plus what Hans said. This story was fairly harmless but Acorn and Sherrod are examples of them hyping stories with similarly dubious sources, with much more serious consequences. And yes, others got Sherrod wrong too but Fox hyped it first and essentially demanded the (premature) responses that came later.

No one's crapping themselves. But if you're going to start in again with the "yeah, but the left does it too!" stuff in every thread again, take another hiatus.

But you're wrong. If MSNBC has used that tabloid as a source and looked like idiots for doing it, someone would have also started a thread about it. Quite possibly you.

But they didn't, and more to the point, they wouldn't.

But I can't imagine it happening in THIS way (the Bat Boy tabloid? Really?) anywhere but Fox.

Whenever a national network starts pulling stories from the Weekly World news, there is going to be a thread on it. I know you think this is just people picking on Fox for yet another little boo-boo, but it's more than that. Don't you wonder how a story from a joke tabloid worked it's way onto the air, but played seriously?

I would think someone at News Corp would blow a gasket over something of this sort. People have been fired for less at other networks.

Maybe Stephen Glass is now working in the news gathering division of Fox.

I'm sure the intern that picked up on this story was packing his/her things.

Because no other cable news network is presenting this kind of BS as news! Sheesh.

"I'm sure the intern that picked up on this story was packing his/her things."

Not if the ratings are going strong. That seems to really be all that Fox News cares about. Integrity hasn't been their strong suit for a long time if ever.

The reason that none of the Three Amigos on Fox & Friends even doubted it is because the idea that the LAPD would spend 10,000 X $100,000 for jet packs plays into Fox's running narrative of government = bad.

The story had everything -- Calfornia, which the right wing already dislikes, Los Angeles, which they hate even more, and government entity wasting taxpayer dollars. Fuel the outrage! Keep fear alive!

Yep, it had everything, except facts, of course.

And in another thread on here that I read earlier, DAR said he watches Fox News.

So, where are you lying, DAR? Here or the other thread where you were asked to give your course for something you ranted at Mr X?
