Around our house movie lines are frequently quoted. This is one of the most common. (Really funny sidenote: this has been going on forever and so the grandchildren have been hearing these quotes since long before they ever saw the related movies. It is such a riot to hear them laugh when they hear one of the lines; ["What you're doing is illegal!!" Weekend at Bernie's, being one of the most recent.] and saying, "So that's where that comes from!" I guess they just thought we all said the same things all the time as some sort of tradition.
For example, I've never seen Fight Club, and yet whenever edible printing is under discussion, my stock line is "The first rule about edible printing is that you don't run anything but edible ink in that printer. And the second rule of edible printing is that you DO NOT run anything but edible ink in that printer. And you still don't talk about Fight Club." And likewise, even though I've never seen either version of The Fly, I still utter the line, "Be afraid. Be very afraid." on a regular basis. (And when the insect zoo at Seattle's Pacific Science Center had an animated "barker bug" in a lab coat, at the entrance to its insect zoo, I would always say, "Look! It's David Hedison!")
