That's a relief! I was all worried about going to the Beijing Olympics next summer, but now I know the news story isn't real, I can travel in safety with my Contemporary refillable mug.

I only find the refilling thing annoying when I see someone with a empty plastic bottle of sprite or something that they refill at the station. It's not sanitary (not to mention cheating). I don't have a problem with folks using a mug from a previous trip at the SAME resort that's still in use, but when you bring in a old Aladdin mug from the 80s from a different resort and start helping yourself, that seems a bit off to me.

I think the only way you can enforce it really though in all seriousness (apart from the funny Onion article) is to use those annoying sticker things that water parks sometimes use with the barcode thing. It wouldn't work very well, but for one trip it might).

I would be in Hog Heaven. I really don't see why people hate it, it's great. However I like Cream Soda, and Delaware Punch also.

And I like offering it to random people I know from boards and taking there photo when they drink it...

Then again, its not "that" bad... could be worse. Try some free samples of alcohol at Busch parks, some of it is good while others are worse than Beverly is to me.

Great finds, love the second article.

on topic here -- just returned from my WDW-Vero vacation and at Vero saw a really LOW example of soda thievery --

They have a poolside snack shop that also has a soda fountain to the side for refilling mugs. I say mugs because one scumbag family headed up there while I was waiting for my shrimp basket -- and was refilling their paper cups - all 4 of them. After the man behind the counter explained to them that the cups were not refillable - the mother of this brood dropped the F bomb on him and stormed away - after filling 2 of the cups. Well not 30 minutes later as we are in the pool - they head up there again - but this time potty mouth Mon does not go -- she sends her maybe 5 -6 year old daughter with 2 cups -- she can barely reach the machine while standing on her toes - and the poor thing spilled one whole soda down the front of her beach coverup -- when she returned to poolside she got yelled at by Mom for spilling soda on herself --

there is no limit to how low soda thieves will stoop -- ;-(

Seriously, that shouldn't have surprised you at all ... I truly believe people are at their lowest evolutionary ebb in my lifetime right now.

I rather enjoy watching the trash bring in empty two-liter bottles and fill up at the resorts. Those people should be made to pay. And that's coming from someone who brings back his mugs to resorts where he was told he could.

The problem is Disney knows if they did, the scum would start hurling F-bombs around and maybe even accost the CMs, so they let it go ... btw, where the heck is Nikki ... she hasn't been around thise parts for awhile. I kind of miss her ... kind of.

Also was made aware that Vero points are available for additions at this time once again...it seems that for whatever reason they are having trouble attracting people to this truly wonderful location....

Or, they could include the mugs as a part of the dining plan or available to Disney resort guests and AP holders as a perk and then sell them (mugs ) for a discount to non-Disney resort guests and all day guests. Just wondering if they've ever done such a thing.
They sell these refillable mugs at many parks across the country and seem to be able to manage. Dollywood sells them ( although I think their refill prices are a little high )and they could care less how old your mug is, you can use it for the refills. You can see people walking around with them from years past.
Disney could even date them yearly so as to be able to keep selling new ones each year if they feel the need.
But, maybe I'm way off base with this thought?

Sort of like Pool Hopping, Disney found a way to eliminate it at the popular pools. And what about Disney Transportation? Has anyone ever been asked to show resort ID when boarding a bus, boat, etc? Folks all over Disney World don't play by the rules (line cutting, camera flashing, center seat sitting and more)If Disney does put much effort into this(soda thievery) and leaves those trash cans full, I for one will be disappointed.
