For price, it is the best. The theming is wonderful. The pool is relaxing (and they have a jacuzzi that's twice as big as Riverside's despite having half the rooms). The food court is OK ... nothing special. They have a wonderful jazz bar in the lobby. But just the size of the resort makes it feel a lot more intimate ... it's a quick walk anywhere there. As for bus transport, except on routes shared with Dixie Landings, you simply have one stop at the front and you're off ... a whole lot more convenient than the other mods. As a matter of fact, PO is the only resort that isn't deluxe that I'd put in my WDW top 10 ... and it's very close to being in my top 5. And we all know how much I HATE, HATE, HATE WDW!!! ;-)

Everyone in my sister's family preferred the accomidations at Alligator Bayou. Oh and Deb, you don't have to pick a room till you check in, its all the same resort. Just in case you change your mind. I know spend a couple nights in each section and see what you think. I really want to hear what YOUR opinion is when you get back.

Port Orleans has very good bus service to/from your destinations. Much, much better than the value resorts or other more spread out Moderates like CS or CBR which have more bus stops and larger campuses.

Thanks for all your input! I will definately post a Port Orleans TR and review if we can get our timing together and go.

I have a Kissimmee condo-share that's available the week after Thanksgiving so instead of renting it out or letting it sit empty, we've decided to use it. I prefer to stay on property, but what can you do. I am, however, attempting to sell the condo over the summer. If that happens all bets are back on and I may even try to swing a few days at a deluxe like WL or AK. Either way, I hope to have a trip report up for your holiday reading. Thanks for all your input!

It's so quiet in Alligator Bayou you don't even feel like you're in a hotel. I felt a bit stressed at AKL: Gotta get up! Animals might be out! Gotta go check the window Giraffe may be going by! Maybe we should leave Magic Kingdom now to see if the Zebras are eating dinner! Waking up in the morning and maybe NOT seeing animals - she would stay here longer and THEN go to EPCOT? Maybe the animals were already out and it's too hot already. I felt sometimes like I was on the animal's schedule instead of slowing down and enjoying vacation time. Of course when the animals were there - WOW! Boma has incredible food and the pool at AKL is awesome.
