I'm glad that I'll have some time to see how it plays out though, since I'm always leary of buying new technology the moment it comes out (either for glitches or lack of uses)

Originally Posted By kennect my 3d capable blu ray player was very inexspensive. but I did pay too much for thr tv. it was around 1,500.00 from best buy. found out the next week I could have gotten it for 400.00 less through amazon. the good thing about the tv is that it uses the passive glasses and came with six pair of glasses. as far as content is concerned I am very careful buying 3d discs. I only buy what I know I will cherish for years to come and still have ended up with a rather large collection of 3d titles.

From what i'm reading here it looks like Skinnerbox and Kennect are the only ones here with 3d gear. It 's a shame studios keep holding out on 3d then wonder why its not as successful as they've hoped for. This happened to me when Avatar came out. I bought our 3d gear with Avatar in mind and then Wham! oh I'm sorry you have to purchase Panasonic hardware in order to get a copy Avatar and it stayed that way for like 2 years. Really frustrating. Anyway I buy all the 3d i can because i worry about the day it could end (knock on wood). Planning on buying a Sony 4k too, hear the 3d is incredible on them. Well thnx for reading this, just had to sound off a bit.

The two images are recorded separately. If he's getting ghosting on Frozen, he'll get it on everything. >>It 's a shame studios keep holding out on 3d then wonder why its not as successful as they've hoped for.<< You have it backwards (Avatar notwithstanding). Every movie that COULD be available in 3D on Blu Ray, HAS been available in 3D on Blu Ray, until very recently. They wouldn't *stop* releasing them unless it was bombing. Sorry, but there aren't enough of you to make home video 3D a viable thing. And a lot of us called it when it first came out. I 'spect a lot of clueless executives were figuring that they'd have a viable no-glasses version out by now. Which was not, and is not, going to happen.
Originally Posted By skinnerbox <<From what i'm reading here it looks like Skinnerbox and Kennect are the only ones here with 3d gear.>> For us, it was a matter of timing. Our old CRT TV bit the dust and needed replacing. And we had yet to purchase any Blu-Ray player since that would have been pointless on a non-HD TV. So going 3D via Costco was just a little more expensive than sticking with a non-3D capable flat panel TV and BD player, which is why we did it. And there's only the two of us, so the added cost for glasses was minimal as well. As for the argument regarding studios not releasing 3D disc versions of films... that one obviously doesn't hold for Frozen, since Disney is releasing it overseas. They're just trying to goose their profits by holding back on the 3D version in the states until the holiday shopping season. Which I sincerely hope backfires on their sorry arses and results in reduced sales of their overpriced extra special limited edition disc offerings that aren't worth the glossy cardboard they're packaged with. Fans want the 3D discs now, not later. Increased sales through Amazon UK is proof of that. Shame on Disney for making us jump through these stupid hoops and wait half a year for just a few more pennies of profit in their coffers.
