    Too funny!

<<from anything in Orange County, is just like Orange County.>>

My west coast friends refer to that as the "Orange Wall".

That is PRECISELY what I'm talking about. It's all still just L.A.!
    <<

Scutr my buddy ... I have to tell you - That's not true at all. The differences between Los Angeles County ... and Orange County are vast. I should know. OC is my native home, as I lived there solidly for 34 years. Hence - My LP name - oc_Dean. Then I lived in LA County for 11 years.

And both are vastly different. In feel, in age, the people, lifestyle, etc, etc.

All this started with Trippy. You know what Trippy my LP bud ... I can say the exact same about your state. I could have a few bad experiences with people in your state ... but should I jump to the conclusion ... in the same way you dubbed "la,la land" California?

It's fun playing "pin the donkey" .. or in this case - "pin California" ... but I could go to Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio ... does not matter the state ... and I could say the same things you are saying about Californians and California.

    Could apply to ANY state!

    Got to tell this story:

Now that I live in Australia .. Can't tell you all how many times I get "I'm going to visit Disneyland in L.A.".

    *SHRUGS*

Then I correct them. "Disneyland is in the city of Anaheim, which is within Orange County. (Or "shire" ... to make it simple for Australians). And Los Angeles County which has the city called Los Angeles is miles away, and nothing to do with Orange County. And the only thing they share is a county line that separates both counties. They may have roads and freeways that cross into each other ... But lets make a clear distinction ... Disneyland is in the Greater Los Angeles AREA .. or also used - The Los Angeles BASIN. But not the city!

Just like .. if any of you visited the region I'm in. There's the city Sydney. But there are different shires all around. With different towns, cities with their own name - They may be part of the 'Greater Sydney Region' .. But they are not part of the CITY - Sydney.

Please review this thread... I NEVER called California "la la land". I also said that although the low cost of living in SW Missouri is a benefit for retired people like me, the overall conservatism of the place came as a real shock to a fairly moderate guy from Minneapolis. You couldn't say anything negative about this area that I haven't already said!!

But as soon as I crossed that county border the better I felt. From that county border .. almost a completely stark difference. The communities are newer .. cleaner (there's not the "filth" you would get in so many areas of LA County) ... streets are wider ... much easier to park anywhere. I could go and on ....

I just can't stop gasping .... the idea of both counties being the same - All "One LA City"- Ohhhhh ... far from it !!!!

[Crossing from one county to the next]
Hello my comfortable native Orange County ... GOOD BYE disgusting LA! ;-)

And roadtrip, I couldn't do it. I consider the democrats too right wing for me, I could not live in your community between the politics and humidity. Lol. Then again we have a queen and rain here.

I know this irritates people from Southern California, but they seem to be mostly alone in making this distinction. Growing up in Northern California we always, and still do, say the same thing. For us Disneyland is in LA. Maybe people are just lazy.

The region is so vast and interconnected that it's not surprising that non-residents just consider it one big place with the same people, lifestyle, climate, etc. It was only after someone broke it down for me was I able to understand the distinct differences between LA and OC.

Is Anaheim an incorporated city of Los Angeles?

If you zoom a bit you can see the city of Norwalk to the North, that's approximately the county line between L A and Orange Counties. It's clear where people might get confused as there is no geographical change or break in the city scape as one county becomes another. But they are two different counties and the populations don't really like being confused one for the other, generally speaking.
