Basically the stores all have these "bags", and the bags contain "some stuff". You can pretty much tell by the price how cool your stuff will be (all the way up to super expensive ones that include stuff like diamonds and car keys (yes, also includes car :p)), but they have cheap ones too mostly for kids.

In general the cheap ones start at $10 and go up from there (the bags usually get bigger too, til you get into the expensive zone then it's just all about "value").

I wonder if this store got the idea from Japan. :)

    Nothing.

Well, it was something. I'm very disappointed.

I got an egg. Not a rock, an egg.

First off, I don't do plants.

This is a egg that you crack, and then pour water and seeds into and it grows into a lavender plant.

Yeah, I don't get it, either.

It is called an Eggling. It is a Japanese product that won gift of the year. Going to websites, it sells for $9.95.

    I'm thinking re-gift now.

But yes, it would be great to use as a secret pal thing! How funny would that be if we all did that for the final reveal?

Ursula, paint your egg gold and hand it out at the Golden Doobies. It can be the traveling gullible award.

Gullible's Travels, maybe. For whomever came the farthest to the LP meet or something. :)

    Is that on their website?

I can't believe that sort of stuff is "the norm" for $10. They must just send out pricey stuff now and then to promote the concept.

Very much a "lottery ticket" kind of a deal. Although, if most everyone receives something worth "around" ten bucks, you really can't complain.

The Japanese deal is quite different, then. Even though what you might get is "a surprise", the pricing is very consistent. If your bag cost $50, you'll get almost exactly $50 worth of "stuff"...no more, no less. It's just a matter of what the "stuff" is that's the surprise...NOT the value.
