My fav night cream is a jojoba one from the body shop. Its only £8 for a decent sized tub, Ive used dearer ones and theyve not felt that good. Originally Posted By Tinkeroon <<What I am sensitive about is my hands. They are the only thing on me that really looks old.>> Mine too! They look like old lady hands. With my first pregnancy at the ripe old age of 21 I got my first "age" spot. The next couple came with my second pregnancy a little over 2 yrs. later. They have since multiplied many times over. I have more age spots on my hands than BOTH of my parents have put together! I've tried using those fade creams but I am forever washing my hands so it seems to defeat the whole purpose. They certainly haven't faded.

If you are prone to problems and don't want old skin there are 2 musts: NO smoking and NO sun. I have rosacea (thanks, Dad), so I'm limited to what I can use on my skin. This year I had laser treatment for the rosacea which also got rid of those tiny wrinkles and the uneven color, so my skin's looking pretty good for my age I use both Lancome and Victoria Principle products for face, eyes and neck. And very little makeup. If you have big pores, use some spackle-type product before your base (if you use one). My neck is the worst part and I'm sensitive about it. But they have a laser treatment for that, too, that I'm almost ready to try. Trust me ladies, those lasers Really really sting. Very unpleasant. I use Sun products for a tan. Sherrytodd, if you're sensitive about your hands, the spray tan product is awesome and hides just about anything. Use sparingly until you get the hang of it. I spray and then sponge out the uneven parts with a makeup sponge (triangle shape). I know TMI *sigh*.

If your skin is too dry, it makes extra oil to try to compensate--which results in breakouts. That's how you can have dry skin and breakouts at the same time. To answer the original question, I use Cetaphil facial moisturizer, and Clinique pore minimizing lotion.

Originally Posted By chickendumpling You guys that just use "whatever" lotion is around are lucky! I am so paranoid about my face anymore. My mom was a cosmetologist and had taught me how to use all her products and I gave myself a facial once and fell asleep with a toner mask on my face and cucumbers on my eyes. When I woke up my face was red, and so swollen that my eyes were nearly shut and my skin had actually started to "crack" in spots and started oozing lymph. (Gross, I know.) When I saw myself in the mirror I started to cry - which of course made it even more painful because of the salt in my tears. The doctor explained that I had given myself a pretty good chemical burn. Luckily, I did not suffer a single consequence from it. Well, aside from the fact that I am EXTREMELY reluctant to try new things on my face. Anway, like I said, I am using Curel right now, but winter has come (it was snowing this morning) and I've noticed a little dry spot right at the top of my cheekbone under my eye so I'm gonna have to go get some of the "good" stuff. I have used Oil of Olay Regenerist before. (Is that what you Oil of Olay users are using?) I did like that and it was handy to be able to get it at Costco! I think the "fancy" one I used was a Lancome product but I don't remember which one it was. Would any of you Lancome users have a specific recommendation for someone with skin a tad on the dry side? It really was good stuff and with the dry heater air around now, I'd be willing to spend a little cash. My mom often recommended Clinique for OTC stuff but she only ever personally used fancy stuff from Europe. She has amazing skin though. Softer than a baby's butt and she's in her 60s now. She has like three laugh lines. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get that from her but I'm not remembering my biology too well and don't remember whose gene is in charge of that kind of stuff. And tapdancemom, NO moisturizers?! You lucky dog! Your skin is so pretty too! I have tried Nivea and Ponds (and Noxema too, I think). But those felt kinda heavy on my skin. Maybe I just put too much on? I also LOVE Corn Huskers and Cocoa butter/Shea butter. Man, those get the job done, don't they? lol. But, the smell really hangs on to me and so I usually will only use those at night before bedtime. DH LOVES when I do that! LOL! The other thing I do for body moisturizers is about once a month I'll take an extra hot shower and then pour some baby oil on. Keeps my skin really soft with little effort. DH loves that. Eucerin is another good lotion too. I use that on my hands a lot - lots of dishes don'cha know. It was recommended by DD's pediatrician. (She had excema on the back of her hands when she was an infant. I had NO idea what it was and it scared the heck out of me! I thought she had some rare kind of meningitis or something! LOL. Ah, to be a "first time" parent. ) Now, I have never heard of Arbonne or Lush or Origins. Do they not sell those in stores? I have to confess that I have never been in a Sephora store. Not even the one in DtD. I thought "Sephora" was its own product line and since I am afraid to try "new" stuff on my skin, I just never bothered to go in. Guess I may have to check it out now. Gosh, sorry this post is so long but can I please just say a couple more things? beamerdog - Preparation H on bags under the eyes? Really?! I think I have heard that before. Has anyone tried it? I'll have to remember that one for the years to come! And LOL @ Sara Tonin about her Witches and Toad comment! Eww! LOL. And yes, Lady Starlight, I agree - we are ALL goddesses (or gods, as the case may be)! That's why we DESERVE to be PAMPERED and to pamper ourselves with wonderful, magical lotions! LOL. And about the alchol; my cosmetologist mom regularly recommended alcohol on a cotton ball to clear up little break outs on clients with oily skin. She always told them it should only be taken as an "emergency" type measure though generally reserved for those times you get a huge pimple on your nose the morning of the big date. Other girlfriends I have used toothpaste for that and then there was always Windex. *cue Windex scene from My Big, Fat Greek Weeding* Okay, last thing: amazedncal mentioned how great it was when experts told us which "grocery story" products were as good as the fancy stuff and I totally agree. Unfortunately, I can never remember that stuff and so I never know what to get! I am really, really hoping someone knows the answer to this though: I remember hearing "experts" say that THE most important thing to make sure is in your facial moisturizer was this but I can't remember what the "this" is. Is it Retinol-A? And what the heck is Retinol-A anyhoo?
