No matter how much work you put in, no matter how long you chase the ball, you will always always continue to learn up to the day you turn in your Earthy clubs for Heavenly Clubs. I wonder if they'll be Pings... *rubs chin*

I think, in spite of whatever people want to say about records, statistics, money, club technology, ball technology, and everything else, it is getting harder and harder to aruge that Jack Niclaus is the greatest to ever play the game. All things considered, Tiger is the best IMHO. Of course there are those who say that Jack didn't have anyone to push him the way Tiger does. Honestly, I think that is a bunch of bunk as well. Tiger is the greatest, hands down in my opinion.

I played 7 (yes seven) holes today with my 5 year old son. He only played the first 3 holes. He scored a 137 on the 3 holes. But he only made 21 putts...not bad! HERE'S THE GOOD PART...After the 7th hole, (this was about 6 PM) there wasn't a single living soul on the course but us as far as I could tell...we parked the cart near the center of a long secluded par 5, pulled out 2 apples and bottles of water from my bag, sat on the edge of the water and "had a moment" that I will probably never forget. While watching and listening to crickets, frogs, various other little things, he told me about his morning in Sunday School, things they had made, friends he likes, friends he dislikes, and finally food he likes. We watched dragon flies and enjoyed being the only two people alive on the Earth for a few minutes. I cannot honestly say I have enjoyed the game of golf as much ever before as I did in that 15 minutes or so. We threw our banana peels into the woods, got back on the cart and came on in. No sense finishing 8 and 9, it couldn't be as enjoyable. The shot that will keep me coming back for more was this: Hole 5, straight away par 4. Drive straight down the sprinkler system about 265. But it's the next shot that I loved: It was this second shot which was a 3 Iron. I hit it a mile high and laser straight. It really sailed and at first I thought it was way over. But then I was all smiles as I watched it landing right on the green, huge ball mark, one tiny bounce with the ball coming to rest about 10 feet from the pin. I choked on the putt for birdie, but got the par. No matter, it was the 3 iron shot that made me a happy camper. I love this game so much more, now that I have resonalbe expectations of myself. I am finding contentment out there...not complacency. I will continue to work hard, practice, and improve, but I am finding contentment in the little tings that a lot of golfers let slip right by; things like .... dragonflies.

I'm not sure where I heard it but someone made the case that Tiger's greatest rival hasn't even arrived yet. They looked back at Palmer who dominated and never really had a challenger till Nicklaus came around, and it was the same way for Nicklaus until Watson. I thought it was an interesting premise. Since Tiger came on the scene, look at how many golfers were raised up to be the one true rival to Woods: Garcia, Mickelson, etc. They're really just pretenders. Mickelson is the best example. Good golfer but really only gets the table scraps that Woods leaves behind.

I feels good, sounds good, and I hit it straight right off the bat! And it was half price . I love a bargain. Can't wait to try it out - going to play 18 on Monday afternoon, then playing in a scramble on Wednesday. This is more golf thank I played all last summer (I usually get in around a half dozen 9 hole rounds, then maybe a scramble or two PER YEAR). The bug has definitely bitten me. If it weren't for work (and $$) I'd be out there as much as DVD_dad! And I splurged and got a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1 balls - thanks to your great salesmanship, vbdad!

NICE club choice and you are really going to like the modern drivers. Afterall, we all like something new. I will be playing two rounds of 18 tomorros (Labor Day). We took the family to Chattanooga TN this weekend for a mini-vacation. We saw Rock City, Ruby Falls, The TN Aquarium, and the Childrens Museum. It was nice and fun and only like an hour and a half drive. We had some really great food at this little dive of a place called Mr. T's Pizza and Ice Cream. It was really great pizza and ice cream. We also had a half decent hotel meal too. We stayed at the Marriott Convention Center Hotel which is downtown and more of a business hotel, but the weekend rates are LOWER at the downtown hotels and the rooftop pool (on the parking garage not the hotel) was really fun for the kids...(and me too!)
