How will you get around? The hotels do have shuttles, but the schedules are rather restrictive. If you can get the Pop Century for $69, I'd recommend you follow RoadTrip's advice: stay on-property. The benefits he has already spelled out are easily worth the $35 extra, IMO.

We stayed at a hotel that was outside of WDW but within walking distance to downtown disney and there was a shuttle that left/returned to the hotel about every hour. I cannot remember what hotel it was. There were about 10 hotels on that street that the bus stopped at. I think the Hilton was one of them. Is the shuttle service not very good anymore. I am only interested in visiting WDW and DTD, so though the shuttle would sufice for our needs. Please let me know if not the case.

I hope their housekeeping has improved since then, but I would check reviews on the internet before booking there. We had our own bus and did one park a day, so transportation wasn't an issue.
