    >> President Bush's approval rating has reached its highest level since January, helping to boost the Republican Party's image across a range of domestic and national security issues just seven weeks before this year's midterm election, a new Times/Bloomberg poll has found.

The survey spotlights a continuing array of Republican vulnerabilities, but it also offers the first evidence in months that the GOP may be gaining momentum before November's battle for control of Congress.<<

Who will actually try and WIN the war on terror?
Who is closest to my family values?
Who will keep my hard earned money in my pocket and not raise my taxes?

The GOP is not perfect but people can easily see that their is no reason to vote for a demcorat dutring these times. The democrats simply are not serious.

But it is still at 44%. That is still pretty dismal.

The leadership on the Dem side is just in disarray. Here were are within 2 months of the election and one would expect an all out blitz of certain items, they just don't be able to agree within their own party as to which items these should be. I don't get it as this is one election I believe is there for the taking, yet I feel no one trying to win my vote.

Now the GOP has got some serious splits going on right now also, but they are the ones that have to be unseated, so by doing little they will likely maintain the status quo.

It's not as if the NDP does not have the $ to be going all out for the next 6 weeks, they just don't seem to have an agreed upon action plan....and I think that will lead to no change...

Running against Bush vs. FOR some things they believe in, is not going to get that crossover vote...

It's time to stand up and be counted, and while I do not have a crystal ball and for Connecticut - I do believe Lieberman will get enough of the independent vote to keep his seat..because he actually stepped out and said what he was for and against..

And yes, Lieberman will win. He's a good man who's only sin is that he wants to win the war in Iraq and he doesn't hate Bush.

What is on the lists? I know Roadtrip posted the Dems. (Maybe a new thread comparing the two?)

Here in California, we're seeing an ad that shows Arnold cheering for George W. Bush at the 2004 GOP convention. It's supposed to, I guess, make us want to vote for his challenger. "Arnold is for George W. Bush -- are you?" is the tagline.

If that's the lame strategy across the nation, Democrats will have little to celebrate this November.

If this is the best they can do...there should be plenty of job openings by mid November on that strategy committee

Yep, I have to agree. That ad is cringe-worthy.

Have the Democrats NOTHING to contribute? NOTHING to say? Do they stand for anything at all?

If they don't make major gains this November, then they've totally thrown away the opportunity. They need to start figuring out what they are for, and not just what they are against.

I think that has been said on here about 1000 times because it's true. Thing is... there are no ideas from the demcorats except cut and run, raise taxes, shoot down all anti terror measures.

Besides, even if they came out with some huge plan today for the country... why did they wait till the election is only 6 weeks away? Is that the party people want to vote for?

It is a stupid commercial and his opponent is handing Arnold the win on a platter.

I'm not a fan, but he has successfully engaged the democratic base and is known to compromise. He is a moderate for the most part (I know cmpaley will disagree). When the electorate has risen up to protest something he is proposing, he usually backs down. He will win because his opponent is a jerk and not because the people love him.
