My Gramps is on meds for his Parkinson's and I guess they're really helping him. He's much less shaky and his muscles are loosening up. So thanks for the good thoughts, vibes, and prayers everyone!

I don't know if you saw any of my posts at the time, but my sister was in a similar situation a year and a half ago. She had a perforated colon leading to massive infection. This was particularly hard on her because she has rheumatoid arthritis and the drugs she takes for that increases the risk of infection. During August of 2005 the doctors gave her a 50-50 chance of living. After surgery they put her in an induced coma for two months to minimize the demands on her body while she healed. The good news to all of this is that last July she moved home. She is living on her own and returning to a normal life. She is rather weak and needs to use a walker to get around, but that is largely because of her arthritis. So while this is obviously a very difficult time for both you and your aunt, a 'happy ending' is very possible. My sister also was in a nursing home for a few months before going home – since your aunt is in the same situation it would seem likely that she might be able to go home in a relatively short time too.

BTW Trippy, you've been on my mind; haven't seen you post much and hope things are going OK for your family.
