Perhaps it's because I spent a long time as a DLR local, eating the quick service a lot, but once you realize that the already-limited menus are copied between the parks (with a few exceptions like Lucky Fortune Cookery and French Market), it gets very monotonous very quickly. I don't think I could do a 3 day trip without eating the same thing twice. In WDW however, they realize that people are going to be staying a lot longer than at DLR and it has the variety to match it. There are still places that I've never tried but really want to, which just shows how many options there are. Yes, you can always find the standard fare (which is mostly what DLR serves), but there's also a lot of really unique things if you keep your eyes open. Then again, I tend to spend a lot of time in Epcot, and the other parks may not be as diverse (especially MK), but overall I think my theory still holds

All it cost Disney to implement this idea was a cheapening of the brand and the loss of potential guests to the other resort. Dumb, dumb, dumb. On a more positive note, I agree with you on monorails, too. I wish the company would show a little vision, stop being so bloody cheap, and install monorails and other mass transit to connect the parks, resorts, and Downtown Disney. Face it, Disney: The nicest bus in the world is still a bus; give people a reason to skip getting a car.

Parks and resorts are scattered across the massive resort, with no real rhyme or reason. There are a few clusters that would make a decent transit line (All Stars, Boardwalk area, Port Orleans/Old Key West/Saratoga Springs/DTD), but with all of the different destinations, it would be a tough system to traverse. And while I'm hardly a fan of taking a bus any time (especially on vacation), it's very nice to just get on and know that it will take you directly to your destination, without needing to transfer (and often without stopping at another hotel along the way). The bus system isn't perfect, and I'd love to see it overhauled into something like a PRT system, but for getting guests to their final destination with minimal hassle, it's actually pretty effective

We would all be yearning for the good old days of just taking a bus to DTD and transferring once there to our destination... and the only time that is even necessary is when going from one hotel to another. All the resorts now have direct transportation to the parks.

I like to have a car at Disney. We live in Saint Petersburg Florida. and we haven't been in 5 yrs. Never could see having a AP. Because it would get boring for us. We have been so many times. But with all the money that Disney put into AK and the timeshres over the years . They could had put in a monrail extension to Downtown Disney and the studios. IMHO. Disney was not thinking ahead as far as what would come later. If they would have done taht. Think of the appeal of having te monrail system running just to those 3 parks and not having AK. I knwow alot of people love Ak. But Busch gardens is just as funand Disney oin my opinion tried to cover everybody whims for the parks and has tried to monoploize the tourist. WDW is still a great place . But for me at this time. it's just not a special as it was or could have been itf they would have done thing different in the 90's and to now. I hhope to get do my big trip of Disney in 2016. it's on my bucket list. But after that. I think it will be the last ofthe theme park experiance as far as Disney and Universal and just do those let go to hawaii and other places like that to relax. But I still love my Disney. But it sure isn't and won't ever bee the same as it was in the 80's and early 90's. Not Dissing Disney. I hope that everyone could go to WDW at least once in their life to experiance the thrill of it.

I was never a big fan of the way the Disney Village, now DTD, happened among other things. The problem at WDW is there is no one vision for the place. That is true of the individual parks and it is certainly true for the property. The most recent case in point for me was the announcement of the Flamingo Crossing. Why build another shopping village? Back to the original topic. My pass expired a couple of weeks ago but as of today Disney has not sent me anything about renewing my pass. I usually get 3 or 4 notices and my son, whose pass expired in May, got several notices.

Im not trying or hoping to be rude or hateful. But people have to understand there is such a thing as persoal space. And the airlines should be able to accomadate any person of size and not charge extra for it. It basically comes doen to MONEY again.

"Hello, AP, my old friend/I've come to talk with you again..." >> Absolutely! I've been listening to Simon and Garfunkel on You Tube since reading the post. My absolute favorite musical group during my High School years. Their "Bookends" album was an absolute masterpiece... exceeds the Who's more well-known "Tommy " in just about every way (though I LOVE The Who).
