I was totally unaware that Sen Vitter, Sen Ensign, and Gov Sanford were railroaded out of office. Last time I checked, all three Republicans were still in office, despite the "non-stop, front-page, saturation media coverage." Why is it that Republicans can engage in illegal behavior, tearfully apologize, then receive forgiveness from their constituents and media apologists and allowed to remain in office? Democrats are expected to always be perfect. Always. And when they're not, no apology is ever remorseful enough to pass muster with the Republicans. They can never be forgiven, they can never expect to change, they must be shamed into resigning from office a la Spitzer and McGreevey lest they destroy the country with their heathen immoral presence. Gimme a break. Why won't Ensign resign for covering up and lying about his affair when he publicly called for Clinton to resign for the same behavior? Why does Vitter believe his past involvement with prostitutes is forgivable, but not Spitzer's? Why does Sanford still think he's serving his state's best interests when he spent tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars traveling out of the country to visit with his mistress? The GOP superstars are hypocrites. They live by a double standard where rules and laws and morals and ethics do not apply to them. Everyone else? Not so much. I'm tired of the hypocrisy and "we can do no wrong" behavior from the right. I'm fed up with the fear mongering so that their fat cat corporate masters can continue destroying the middle class while amassing more and more personal wealth. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

This is why nothing really transformative ever passes, and why I think we'll only see a "weak-at-best" health care bill and energy bill. I swear, as much as I thought George Lucas destroyed his Star Wars series with the new prequels, his take on the Galactic Senate sure did seem to be a perfect match for our current Congress...

You gotta give Republicans credit, they've created this environment where it's perfectly acceptable for their side to hold up pictures of Obama as Hitler, take guns to town halls, etc., but if Obama so much as shakes hands with Hugo Chavez, they have a total meltdown. And DAR, you haven't been remotely consistent. You claim to be, but you're not. You easily whine far more about Democrats than you ever have Republicans. Not exclusively, but far, far more, I'd wager.

And then he backed out on that - on counsel of other republican senators who told him that he should "ride it out" and remain in office. He did - with the full support of his republican colleagues. By my way of thinking, every republican out there lost their ability to fingerpoint at the transgessions of anybody else after that whole tawdry episode. It's unlikely that any Senator on either side of the aisle will top Larry Craig's antics anytime soon.

Looking for a sexual encounter with another who consents is perfectly fine be it with female or male, be it at a club, bathroom, internet or wedding. Now the hypocrisy is a different argument.

I could care less what people do in the privacy of their own homes - or the privacy of anywhere else, for that matter. But I just assume not stumble in on them in an airport bathroom, or have my children stumble in on them. Straight, gay, black, white, fat or thin. If you're gonna get freaky, please don't do it in public. If I wanna watch other people have sex, I'll do THAT in the privacy of my own home
