They can be used literally all over the world.

Since you live in a very high cost of living region 17K might not seem like much (and a sinking dollar helps you as well). 17K is pretty big chunk of change for me.

I know they could always do crazy things like bridges or tunnels across the road, but I just don't see that as a very feasible solution. While this news is good for DLR in the short term, I have to wonder how good it will be for DCA, and therefor the entire resort, in the long run." that piece of property was always planned to be Hotel expansion. i would not worry about DCA due to this small area of property not being used for park expansion. The property will hold quitea few rooms but the structure will be several stories high like the other towers. DCA's sparse look will eventually dissapear. The park was built with several expansion pads within the already built park for future attraction locations. Just think of how Disneyland began filling in areas little by little when new attractions were added. the only significant diference is that DCA will most likely always have wider walkways than disneyland but the park will eventually be close to the size of its popular sister park. DCA also does not need the large backstage area Disneyland requires. DCA shares Disneylands backstage area via a backstage road and tunnel located on the eastern side of the resort behind Hyperion and under the tram, shuttle loading area. this allows DCA to grow out closer to the parks boundaries. Notice how Midway Madness soon to be built main show building has alreadytaken up a pre-determined expansion plot for attraction

If you think annual passholders are a problem, you know, those people who feel some type of ownership of the park because they have a right to visit for a year, just wait until you see the actions taken by people who literally own part of the property for the next 20 years. Now if they themed the facade to San Fransisco, for a new expansion area, now we're talking. Their view is of the pier, but thier rooms on the upper level fit right in to the themeing.
