That does sound about right. I know it's on the left, and if you are looking at the tile you will be facing towards SSE. It's close to six feet off of the ground.

But I love the fact that my smiling face is greeting everyone who arrives at Epcot, every day. And though my pic shows a bit of wear, it's still very clear that it's me etched in metal. This is typically done at the end of Illuminations as people are leaving. So, have people pay so that the laser will write their own message with the laser on SSE. It could be a happy birthday greeting or anniversary - whatever. Then as you leave, you can see your birthday message flashed up on SSE for 5 seconds while you are leaving the park. You can theme it like Phineas and Ferb took over the laser and are using it to display these messages.

Torches used to come on either a full hour and a half before RoE with the ToN Parade, or at least a half hour before when the Pre-Show Music started. But I agree with you on the start time - that used to be a very cool part of the atmosphere of the WS for that half hour before showtime. Ah well, budgets and expenses and all . . .
