Are you saying Disney needs to update so it can have a new Disney store as we exit to buy more souvenirs?

I just want to see that ride tech used somewhere in WDW, has so many possibilities.

I was working at WDW during the construction of Disney-MGM Studios, and I remember thinking that this one has the potential to be a real winner. Once it opened, I felt really disappointed. Not only the new name of the attraction (it was originally titled 'Great Moments at the Movies' but I also felt that it had (has) a confusing concept. Now stay with me here... As a guest, embarking on this journey into movies -- what are we supposed to be doing? Are we: A. Walking into an actual movie -- sort of magically stepping into the screen (a la 'The Last Action Hero'?) Or are we: B. Watching the filming of a movie and we're 'on the set.' So often I'm told 'Jim, you're thinking about it too much' but seriously, A and B are two different concepts. In the GMR you seem to be doing both at different times. Sometimes we're looking at Sigourney Weaver (shouldn't it be Ripley if we're 'in' the movie?) and then, we're just in a 1930s gangster movie. Then we looking at Clint Eastwood, and he looks over and nods at us -- wait he can see us? To me, because the initial concept of the ride is weak, the rest of the pieces don't fall into place as they should. And the whole thing is muddy. Another aspect that annoys me is the flow of the movies we see -- who decided to put these movies in the order they did? Right after the introduction, we're thrown immediately into 'Footlight Parade' then to 'Singin' in the Rain' then to 'Mary Poppins' and on to 'Public Enemy' all in about 35 seconds. Huh? I might have set up the movies in chronological order, beginning with black and white silent movies, and following along in a more logical historical sense. In 'The GMR' we ramble along through these scenes with very little rhyme or reason -- 'Tarzan' leads to 'Casablanca' to 'Fantasia' -- and by the time I get to the Chuck Workman montage of movie clips, I'm sitting there, thinking -- what just happened? It becomes like a automated trip through the Movieland Wax Museum (which, trust me, is not a compliment). I do like the 'Wizard of Oz' sequences -- but again, are we on the set of that movie? Are we in the movie? And if we're in the movie in Munchkinland and we're being confronted by the Wicked Witch of the West -- where's Dorothy and Glinda the Good Witch? They're in that scene. I'm sure 'Great Momemts at the Movies' had a solid concept once upon a time (I honestly don't know which one the Imagineers were going for), but it's never worked very well for me. And I wouldn't begin to know how to fix it in its current form.

"Hello everyone and welcome to the Great Movie Ride. Once again, my name is *CMs Name* and I'll be taking you from this Hollywood soundstage right into the middle of the action of the greatest films ever made, all on one tour. But between you and me, this is no ordinary tour because the Great Movie Ride brings these movies to life, and puts you right in the middle of the action."

Showcase what disney's additions to the history of film were not what others (aka MGM) did. It'd be a lot cheaper to operate than pay the royalties they do... -em

I like the idea of a guide through the movies..and also wholeheartedly agree it should NOT be Disney only movies..that is why it's called the great movie ride. Disney however had not respected this attraction for a while - then stuck a big ass pin station hat in front of it as if to give it the finger. This can be a gem again..but yes needs some serious TLC. I am all for changing a few sequences but good luck in getting agreement on which ones -- for me I would absolutely not want to lose Wiz and the gangster motif. I will disagree on fastpass though as the length of line would be horrendous - all the time and clog up what is already not a wide artery there. I do second the thought ( that's 3 today) of building another family friendly ride next to it - not duplicating it -- as much as I do like the attraction.. in the long run that would not be a good use of funds

I've literally rode GMR more times in the last 3 years than I ever have before, and I have to say I think I've had 1 bad CM that entire time. -------- agreeing again with Hokie ??? But all one has to do is ride Living with the Land after it's turnover-- it wasn't 'fascinating' before that, but is awful now. I want more live people @ Disney- not less. Sometimes I wonder if people are so desensitized from text messagingand twitter etc. that live interaction isn't needed for them anymore. I want more stage plays...etc.. bring back the actors !

What a terrible, terrible show. I'd love for some sort of Marvel stunt show to take it's place. And yes, before every jumps on me I know it's not possible right now.

It was all about giving the Studios a new, more marketable icon than the Earful Tower. And if all goes according to plan, the hat will be gone in the coming years.
