The Klean Kanteens are food grade stainless and have a wider mouth that you can easily put ice in. Because of the wide opening, they're the most like drinking from a glass. They are fairly light - when empty - and have lots of interchangeable options for tops. (The 18 ounce capacity bottle weighs 6 ounces.) The tops are plastic, but non-leaching. They also have carrying straps to carry them with. They are BPA free and completely leach free!

The Sigg bottles are fun and come in lots of patterns and colors. I was skeptical about the aluminum at first, but have been reassured over and over that they bake the water-based epoxy liner on at such a high temperature that they show no signs of leaching even after years of use. They have a smaller opening - kind of like drinking from a pop bottle. They are very light - the 20.3 ounce bottle weighs only 3.9 ounces. They also offer a double walled stainless option - it's a little heavier at 11.2 ounces, but you can fill it up with coffee in the morning, and then use it for water the rest of the day. These have carrying straps, too. They are BPA and completely leach free!

Another option is the New Wave Enviro bottle - it's stainless, light, and fairly inexpensive. No options on the interchangeable tops, but it comes with a caribeener. These have a small opening like the Sigg. BPA and leach free!

They'll all dent. The Siggs a little easier - except for the stainless. My kids think it's kind of cool. Like breaking in your shoes.

You'll have a hard time finding a spot to send them without shipping because the mark up is so low. The profit is usually less than the cost to ship them. (I know because I feel so strongly about the disposables and plastics that I started a company to sell them that went live in April.)

I remember spending a ton of money on water bottles in the park, and seeing one of my kids dump a full one over his head because he was hot. This fall will be our first trip back our reusables - they'll be able to dump all they want!

I'll give anyone free shipping on a $50 order for this week if you're interested. Just enter the coupon code LAUGHING PLACE. The link is <a href="http://www.H2Ox2.com" target="_blank">http://www.H2Ox2.com</a>

I might pick up a Sigg this week, I like the smaller opening. I noticed our Whole Foods sells them. I also saw that Seattles Best Coffee in our Borders Books store was selling nice sized bottles similar to the camelbacks. The tag was over the "triangle" so I couldn't see the rating.

Thanks for your thoughts and information everyone :)

I think I'll order a couple of the camelback bottles too, but don't want the small mouth ones because I want them for my kids to take water to school. I wonder how the bite top works if you don't have the straw. Does anyone know?
What about the other BPA bottles at REI that just look like regular bike water bottles. They should be good also, but just won't handle hot beverages, right??

So, I've been surfing Disney related sites. With the exception of our first trip that we booked through Disney, someone else planned everything and we followed their lead. I'm feeling a little out of the loop! Had some questions about "transferring" tickets, etc. (We have three days left over from a previous trip.) I always look into anything to do with bottles - and here I am. I get a little caught up - I'm really excited to see that people are developing an awareness about this!

Welcome to LP. Check out the DL trip planning section if you have any questions. There is a LOT of great info on this site and many knowledgeable people. Oh, and have a great time at Disneyland when you go.

You know what's really funny, I cook with unfiltered tap water and our ice machine uses unfiltered tap water. We go through a lot of ice.

Go figure... it makes absolutely no sense. I think we should just drink tap water and be done with the whole thing.

So say, I typically take one bottle to work with me and leave one bottle in the car for after work errands. Now, with my washables, I can take one (filled at home with my filtered tap water which tastes better than my non filtered tap water) into the office and leave one in my car and not be creeped out if it gets hot :)
We don't have a decent sink in our office (would have to use the restroom sink,ew) added to that the water pipes are probably 50 years old.

I'm using 10 less bottles per week. So what? you might say. Simply put, it makes me feel good. Also, I have back issues and I'm not supposed to be lifting those cases of water. OUCH!

I'll be buying water bottles when we travel, especially to DLR where I find the tap water to be, um, not so great.

So my question about the bottles has been answered thanks to the help of some great LPers and I am a happy camper :)

I used to worry about the fact that I should recycle but say to myself that I just couldn't worry about it right now. It was really selfish and lazy of me to think that way. It only takes a few extra minutes each day to do the right thing. It feels really good, too.
