And the cost to restore this type of thing, less than that to add themed playgrounds to open areas....far less than the Stitch makeover on AE -- etc....the sad fact is I believe these things are gone forever...the current management is tying to convince everyone there is no need for this 'link to the past' -- newer is always better. How much longer for the Dapper Dans / Mayor of Mainstreet / flag retreat ceremonies / Barber Shop -- who knows -- but my guess is enjoy them now...

You just summed up my EXACT feelings about WDW's MK! It's all in the details, and so many of them simply have been torn away over the past 5-10 years.

A very refreshing and interesting look. So sit back and enjoy the differences

And Blackie, I think I can answer your question. It seems like some people just hate this park or that park. But after many years of reading and getting to know the people involved, it's usually more of a great love for a park, and a sadness and frustration at seeing the perceived quality going down over a period of years. It's pretty much accepted that Disney does indeed read these online forums at some level. So there's always the hope that they'll see the frustration and make changes. It happened in DL (and who knows how much of that was pushed by us forum fiends!) - and it could happen in Florida as well.

Please do not tar everyone with the same brush. I do think that the MK is very weak compared to DL or maybe even DLP (though I love Country Bears, Hall of Presidents, Sonny, and Carousel of Progress). And I am not overly amazed with the Studios Park (GMR, TOT, RNRC, Muppetvision 3D, and LMA excepting). But I love the resorts. I love Epcot more than perhaps any other park in the world (well, it's neck and neck with DL). I adore Animal Kingdom (90% of it) and I think the offerings of Downtown Disney are wonderful - Adventurers Club, Comedy Warehouse, HOB, La Nouba, Disneyquest etc. So I really do love WDW. But the Mk is just a small diversion for me. And I think that the experience has been diluted over the years, and that is what makes it the poorer cousin of DL.
