Was chatting with a friend about Disney Company, an d he mentioned Walt's son. I told him Walt had no sons, only two daughters. He told me I was mistaken, and I offerent to bet him $5000. Sadly enough, he didn't go fro it. *sigh* heheh

Many of us baby boomers have had dreams for decades coming out of that fog into the ship v. fortress battle scene, with the cannons just missing us left and right, and the captain screaming at the Spaniards ashore. There is simply not a better scene, including the dark blue horizon backdrop [Peter Ellenshaw?], in any Disney attraction world-wide than this one at the Anaheim original. On the other hand, I must admit that the quote below makes me want to head to Orlando this week: "Imagine visiting the Carousel of Progress, then strolling over to the PeopleMover to get a gander at Walt's 'Progress City' model. Sounds like the Disneyland moment of your dreams, right?" Us Native Californians will never forgive Mousewitz for the Rocket Rods and Innoventions atrocities, so you make an incredibly important point re WDW having the size to keep the old with the new. Thanks again for the excellent writing. It's a cathartic experience every time I read your articles.

At WDW, I mean - TDLFAN, ssWEDguy, any other WDW regulars happen to recall, or could one of you check for me next time you're on the WDW version? Thanks, y'all!

I have another article that should be coming out this week. And it's possible that I'm in for a rude awakening when I go back for a ride on the WDW Pirates in January. I haven't been on it in five years, and it had been a couple-of-year drought before that too, so my memory of the ride isn't quite what it used to be. Maybe it will feel extra-short to me, maybe some scenes won't look as good, or maybe it's in a state of disrepair. But I am looking forward to exploring the beautiful queue and load area once again.

But can you tell me more about this? Is this a shadow effect, or does it appear directly in the rockwork? So I know what I'm looking for.

Just that DL is flat out better than MK. If he thinks that DL is better casue of nostalgia/history issue, he is wrong. Almost every attraction upload it's hardware and effect every now and then from huanted mansion to the latest space mountain while MK really give you a "nostalgia" cause it looks so old. Take a look at 50th celebration, new firework, new parade and coming up new submarine. They are not the history of DL. It is instead a bright future. If Greg think this the good enough for MK, don't complian when its westcoast counterpart keep adding new addtion and revamp it's classic attraction.

I repeat it again that I prefer the MK to DL...you and many others may not. So there IS an argument ‘there’. Nothing is set in stone saying which park is better than the others- it is all up to each individual person to decide themselves which park they most prefer. But please don’t act as if you’re opinion is fact and cannot be debated because it can.

I hate to break it to you but there are many people who think MK is better than DL, including my best friends wife-- who is 52 years old and grew up in Anaheim ( they now live in Irvine after living in Chicago for 20 years in between) -- so it is not just dopey Midesterners ( as some like to call us) - and east coasters -- they each offer something different to some extent. I myself think DL is the best one park of all -- however I prefer WDW as a vacation destination...and I livedin So. Cal ( Newport Beach) - so I know the area etc. etc. My family except for me prefers MK -- forget as to why, they just do and their opinion counts to---so to say there is no argument is just ignoring the facts. One thing is a fact- those who love DL get way more nuts over this than people who prefer MK.....

Denfending MK is not necessary as far as I am concerend because MK is more visited and than DL and people would come to visit anyway. On the other hand, DL is more local. What I don't like about MK is their poor maintenance compare to DL. I felt the park is old in every sense of the word. It is not a charm at all. But hey, Mickey's Philharmagic is one of best Disney attraction and MK owns it. This 3D show is WAY WAY better than "Honey,I shrunk...." in DL.
