I also don't get all the Universal hype and praise. Currently it seems to be popular to hype and praise Universal and critisize Disney wheneve it is possible. It doesn't matter if you read the MiceChat, WDWMagic or even the LP board. It's always the same. Disney does everything wrong and Universal everything right.

We have been to Universal Florida in January and we were disappointed. Harry Potter World looks great and the Fobidden Journey is one of the best attractions I have ever done, but the other new ride "Escape from Gringotts" wasn't that good at all. The Transformer ride also gets a huge hype across the forums, but at least for us it was another disappointment. The 3D wasn't as clear as expected and the Transformers franchise is just not my taste. Maybe our expectations were so high due to all the comments on the fanboards. Even the olde Spider-Man ride was a lot better.

Honestly only Harry Potter makes it worth to visit Universal. Spider-Man, the Hulk coaster (although not themed at all) and The Mummy were also great, but I wouldn't go to Universal again because of these rides.

Exactly, which is why I called out the OP for trolling.

It would make sense, wouldn't it? Maybe they'll upgrade the menu at some point in the future. The menu's in the parks always seem to be changing.

What about some stuff you might expect to eat at a local diner in an area like that. Comfort foods? Salsbury steak? Pot roast? I don't know...something different.

When you put it that way, it's kind of frustrating that they don't have a smoked salmon option. It just seems so obvious with the name and location...

I agree that this would be nice, but I think that Flo's already has the cuisine covered (though their take on it isn't exactly my favorite). I suppose there has to be at least one standard burgers-and-fries place in each park, but it's a shame that they consistently make something that simple so lousy

Wow that stuff looks really good! And I'm glad that they mentioned some other menu improvements in the Studios too; that park has always had the worst counter service food, even though the table service locations are outstanding. These types of changes are very welcome and long overdue, IMO!

Flo's HAD that covered...they ruined their menu by changing it and getting rid of the pork loin, turkey and roast beef dishes they had. I get what you mean..they still have rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes and such....I'm just bitter cause the pork loin was my fave. :-/

They got rid of all that?! That's what set Flo's apart from the rest in my book. What's the point of it now? What did they even replace it with?

    >>When you compare WDW with DLR, DLR seems pretty sad.<<

Heck, compare all of DLR with Epcot alone and it's pretty sad. However, there are very few people who spend a full week dining only at DLR restaurants, while that's quite common in WDW. It's a different market, and I think the food options reflect it in a fairly reasonable way

On average though, I would say that DLR's counter service food is better than WDW's counter service food (though the service in WDW is better, since it's not plagued with the slow-paced Californians) and even has places with real dishes and silverware, so I guess it all sort of evens out eventually

I agree. But even before the most recent changes, the Studio Catering Company had seen changes for the better in recent years. It is the only counter service place in the Studios where Ann and I ever consider eating.

wow! you really missed the point badly

Disney did get a "new" eat spot and all they could muster in a high sierra themed zone is burger and shake.

disney had its chance to offer something relevant to the land and somewhat unique but squandered the opportunity for poorly built burger.

be it in animal kingdoms, magic kingdoms or in the dca their burgers are quite lousy.

for counter action best to tap award weiners and get one of those spicy ones, hot link style.

Disney repainted an existing restaurant; there were no substantial changes to anything done in this refurbishment. I really wouldn't call anything they did "new" in any meaningful sense. If that's what you were expecting, then I think you missed the point of the refurbishment badly

This, on the other hand, is a worthwhile question. They sell millions of burgers each year, so why are they so terrible?

Presumably it's because they don't *have to* be good to sell them, but it's still disappointing. Especially with the price increases they've given us in the last ~5 years that are "justified" by "improved menus", the burgers continue to be subpar. If countless fast food restaurants around the country can turn out decent burgers at a reasonable price, why can't Disney do it at their inflated rates?

I'm partial to the clam chowder bread bowls and the French Market myself
