That has to be the most boring re-launch menu in the history of Disneyland Resort restaurant relaunches. I fell asleep TWICE reading it.

For the way that Disney is advertising this as an entirely new dining location, I'm pretty surprised that they don't even have a single new signature item; it appears to be a direct copy of the previous menu, perhaps with one or two changes of ingredients. I wasn't expecting much since this is essentially just a fresh coat of paint and a new name for an existing facility, but Disney really tried to sell it as something entirely new

And being from the south, I can't help but laugh when they list coleslaw as a side dish that people might want in lieu of fries. For one, the ramekin of slaw that they give you is tiny and could hardly be considered a serving of anything, and for another, coleslaw is a condiment not a side dish : )

This is also an option at some of the other restaurants in the parks (Tomorrowland Terrace and Hungry Bear; possibly others), so it's nothing specific to this location, but it's always confused me

With the old one, it came in a little black (or red on rare occasions) plastic cup that was about 2" in diameter at the top (tapered so the bottom was narrower) and about 1-1.5" tall. It was about the same size as the cups for condiments at many fast food prices

I understand that they're probably doing this to have a "healthy" alternative to fries, but I have a hard time calling anything that's doused in mayo "healthy". Why not have a fruit salad or something? It seems like it would be an easy substitution, could be a reasonable portion size to actually be filling, and actually be healthy. Crazy thought, I know...

The inside looks nice (even if it suffers from the TGI Fridays crap-on-the-walls problem that plagues most WDI interiors in the last ~20 years), but the outside is kind of bleak at the moment. There's a ton of boring brown paint, and I'm surprised that they're using such an industrial-looking railing around the planter. The Grizzly Peak area has a great woodsy feel, so I'm a little disappointed that this doesn't capture that same vibe; I'll be interested to see how the Soarin' area turns out

I understand why they wanted to include photos of the food items on the menus, but the busy checked table cloth makes them difficult to see from a distance. It's a minor thing, but I think a small change could make a big difference here

And I love the flyer for Camp Inch, which was the summer camp in the Hayley Mills version of the Parent Trap

Are you laughing at me? Because I would get the cole slaw in lieu of fries.

"For one, the ramekin of slaw that they give you is tiny and could hardly be considered a serving of anything"

I've never eaten at Taste Pilots Grill. The cole slaw is tiny, but at least it looks good. I hate soupy (and sweet! yuck!) cole slaws.

"coleslaw is a condiment not a side dish"

    I do like slaw dogs.

    Yes. Yes I am. : )

Maybe I just have an unreasonably large appetite (especially after trekking all over the parks), but the meal with the fries is just barely filling for me; I can't imagine how hungry I'd be after with the slaw

That's actually more slaw than I was expecting. And it doesn't look drowned in mayo either - it probably actually is a healthier choice than the fries. Everything's relative, of course.

I liked that too. At the bottom it exhorts you to "switch places and find adventure," and ends with "Let's Get Together!" (the song from the original Parent Trap).

I also liked that another of the flyers mentions "See Ranger Woodlore for more information."

I still think they should have J Audubon Woodlore and Humphrey the Bear in that area. Especially if they're now trying to make it a mid-century National Park, it's just a perfect fit

They may think the problem is that people under a certain age will have no idea who they are. It's one thing to print up a little sign to get a chuckle out of those of us who get the reference - another to spend more serious money on introducing characters that might get a "who's that?" from the kids.

It wouldn't be impossible to re-introduce the characters to the new generation - you could certainly have them on signs all over the RRCS, for instance, pretty easily - and maybe even play the old cartoons on the Disney channel... but again, they may consider that more trouble than it's worth. I'd love to see them, though!
