I believe that ban was put into place in 1988 and all current pieces must have been registered by that date. Possession of an unregistered full auto is a federal crime with big penalties. As for the purchase, they are only difficut to obtain because of the limited supply, dealers to sell them and price. Apart from the additonal background checks and federal stamp, their purchase is no different from other firearms. Civilian ownership is limited to wealthy individuals who collect and can afford to purchase and feed them.

We are caught in the dilemma of wanting to be able to own guns in order to protect ourselves from what we are defending. I still firmly believe in the right to own a simple firearm for personal and home defense. I just cant help it, I feel that gun proliferation is at a level that cannot be reversed. However, some of these lazer sighted assault weapons that are available to anybody, are so over the top in their destructive potential that I have to seriously question that availability. I honestly wish there were no guns at all, sadly, that is just not the case.

If you did it to me, you could just as easily fall into another rage, grab a gun and shoot someone. If you can calmly sit there and think that threatening the life of another person is just "words," then you need to take your guns, and get rid of them.

As of now I am pretty much free to do what I wish with the understanding that charges can be brought upon me for past crimes. I can actually vote now, but I choose not to as there really is no point.
