Yes, we need to focus on what brings true happiness. I am re-reading "The Purpose-Drive Life." We studied it a while ago in Bible study. It puts God back into the equation of personal happiness.

Up until a few years ago, I was pretty isolated so it feels wonderful to have the opportunity. I have also found that my set point of happiness is much higher when I eat better and take better care of myself. I think that's an important element that we sometimes forget.

I'm a generally happy / optimistic person, and while things get me down for a few days or so at a time, I always end up laughing again and return to my "old self". I'm not sure how that would go if something REALLY tragic was to happen to me (I've been pretty lucky so far in that respect).
