Normally I slide through a birthday without much emphasis, but there is something about the ones ending in 0 that make them more noticible. I enjoyed being a 60 something, but now it is on to an era of being 70 something. To tell the truth, while I don't consider 70 as old, I really never gave much thought to making it here. I have sorta celebrated for a week, with various friends treating me to several meals. We tend to avoid doing much on the actual day of Dec 31 because so many are out and about, making for lines everywhere. I also like things low key. But this is what I did yesterday. Breakfast with the love of my life, DW, at "The Original Pancake House", a mid-day movie (latest James Bond flic) with my son, and dinner and a concert with DW. I watched the new year in on TV. Today we followed our tradition of going out for a lunch of ice cream sundaes. (Sure do miss Ghiradelli Square, which is where we used to go before retirement). Then, since we live the good life in wonderful Orange County, we took a convertible ride on this sunny, 66 degree day. Now we are watching two grandchildren while their parents are at a movie. Your good wishes are a true joy and blessing in my life.
