What did you do all week? (I can only assume you were there for a convention maybe, or for golfing? Otherwise I can think of much nicer beach resorts and such where you could spend a week "relaxing")

Same here. If I want a weekend of relaxing I get a hotel room in the Quarter or on the Gulf Coast and veg out.

I don't think I could go to WDW and NOT visit the parks. I enjoy them too much!

My wife was feeling terrible and she stayed by the kiddie pool and in the room with the other kids...I think we only have 2 other kids at the time.

I went to the class, learned a few things about grilling seafood, but I felt really bad when I got back to the room to find my wife feeling so poorly.

I didn't go back to the Insitute for the "golf class" I had planned. We stayed another 2 days but it was mostly me taking the kids to Downtown Disney, Mini Golfing, and Fishing. We jad a blast but my poor wife had a terrible time.

There are MANY MANY things to do there without going into the parks or water parks.

The following day we boarded a 7 day cruise aboard the Carnival Glory out of Port Canaveral (which was awesome by the way). Opon our return, I couldn't just go to the airport and bypass Disney. We had a few hours to spare, so we went to the Disney Marketplace. It was weird being there and not going to the parks. But would I ever go to Disney for vacation, and not go to the parks? No way.

It's not exactly not going to the parks, but I was on Disney property for 3 days and couldn't do anything! Our hotel pool was even closed because part of the hotel wall fell into it! But I'm not complaining, there were a lot of Floridians far worse off than we were. It was an experience though.
