Well maybe if you were awake you could see some of the movie LOL. I fell during the empire strikes back when they enhanced the SW movies and brought them back to the big screen. In movies like SW and LOTR there are always a few long boring storytelling parts before the action.

Avatar is the biggest grossing film of all time, raking in over $2 billion in box office receipts worldwide. They may be blind but they can see the potential dollar signs clearly.

And even then...is there a Avatar fandom? Are there Avatar fans that are going to line up like the Dinsey and Potter fans did for Carsland and WWoHP respectively? I'm doubtful.

Well, like I asked before, is there Indiana Jones fandom? What matters most is how good the attraction is. The strength of the franchise is important, of course, but not the defining factor.

    There was action in LOTR?

Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi made less than Star Wars, which was by far the most popular movie of all time, and was much, much better received than Avatar.

I'll definitely be interested to see how it turns out.

You, but they didn't build a land off of Indiana Jones and try to market it as the second coming as they will do with Avatar.

If the next 3 movies are loved by audiences then merch and fandom will follow. Disney will have made an excellent move.

If they are "blah," then Disney better make a dang good attraction that stands on its own.

Exactly! Yes, James Cameron is going to shoot three Avatar movies at the same time. But we don't know how successful those movies will ultimately be. I wouldn't build a "land" in DAK gambling on if they will be successful or not. Personally, I would build a "land" based on a Disney intellectual property.

But if they'd done that on the heels of an Indy sequel it would probably have been a huge success.

Look, the point is that you don't have to like the movie to like the Tranformers attraction. As a matter of fact I've seen any of those movies but the ride looks amazing.

I'm certainly not going to travel to Orlando just to experience one attraction like Transformers. Althought, I agree whatever land ultimately gets built in DAK, it will need to have some state of the art rides and attractions to bring the focus back on Walt Disney World instead of Universal Studios.

That's kind of silly. So if Disney built something based on Avatar that everyone agreed topped RSR, Spiderman, and Harry Potter combined you wouldn't be interested?

So for all intents and purposes there will be the Avatar ride -- just like there's a Star Wars ride and an Indiana Jones ride.

We'll be lucky if the ride is more than the Pandora version of Soarin'.

This would work well because with just a space theme in general there are so many different things that can be done. Much like the great movie ride uses multiple movies , a space land could use multiple space themes and movies. Unfortunately it would fit better at EPCOT or DHS not at AK.

Nope. DAK isn't worth my money as is. Avatar, even with a decent ride, won't change that.

Man, you WDW fans are tough.

I can understand that. I'm certainly not rushing to Florida to see WWoHP either, although I understand that it's over the top and quite well liked.

I think a few posters have raised some interesting points. I know I would not be impressed with an Avatar themed land. I thought TSMM was a fun ride, but in all my visits to WDW I have only ridden it once. Since I was in queue for three hours, that kind of ruined the experience for me. I have never ridden it since. Furthermore, I take issue with the growing trend at parks like Universal and those in WDW where the latest rides and attractions are over in five minutes or less. Look at the Finding Nemo ride..... I guess the expectation is that we are suppose to be impressed with the well detailed queue. I sure hope the little mermaid ride will be longer. My biggest complaint with most (if not all) of the latest and greatest rides is that they are over with too quickly; Everest, Nemo, TSMM. I will stick with the classics; Pirates, HM, SSE. In other words I think the future of amusement park rides is going to be revolving doors.
