Yes, you're paying for the easy access to the drag bar next door.

Way to misrepresent what I wrote.

"P.T. Barnum was right....There is a sucker born every minute!"

A jerk too, apparently, who can't just say "to each his own" but rather "to each my own and if you choose differently you're an idiot." Nice.

When it turns out that does not happen, and the people who like the Disney hotels have the temerity to explain why they choose to spend their own money at the hotels, those people are accused of being crazy, recklessly wealthy, spoiled, or just wanting status. Of course, those determined to show what a rip off the Disney hotels are the same kind of people who would pull out a "how dare you!" attitude if someone told them they were wasting their money on something they enjoyed.

Yup, like clock work. I suppose the same happens on any fan forum. Car forums probably have Toyota fans who tell BMW fans they're wasting their money.

When you combine that with close proximity to the parks, it really is too tempting to pass up, IF you have the money. Yes, they are, I believe, very pricey, but very pricey just means that there are plenty of people who are willing and do shell out the big bucks to stay there.

That view would not be possible at any other Anaheim hotel.

We loved having breakfast at the PCH Grill before heading to the parks. Pool had awesome water slide and a toddler pool which was awesome because our daughter was a toddler at the time.

The only complaint was that there were way too many screaming kids at the pools (I know, what did I expect?), but the poolside bar service provided relief from the ruckus. I've stayed at the GCH on several occasions and frankly my best DL vacations have been there. The amenities - rooms, restaurants, public areas, spa, gym, pools, and proximity to DtD and the parks - are superior to any other property in the DL resort area.

Seriously? This is your come-back to paying $3,500 extra???? uh, ok...did you happen to check out that the Hyatt (and many other high-end hotels) provide private shuttle busses directly to the parks? Guess not.

    1. This is a DISCUSSION thread about is Disney has lost it's "Magic"
    2. People were discussing the link to "Magic" and the price you have to pay for it.
    3. Just as much passion goes into the repeated argument that anyone who does not stay at a Disney property are somehow missing out on the "Complete Magic Experience" and it gets old.

If you don't want to discuss the topic, feel free to skip the thread and move on. To those of us who are actually using facts and examples to illustrate the situation, we will continue to discuss and educate.

Why is it that anyone who points out a fact is met with the STANDARD refrain that "DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO" responses?

DaBoob even felt it necessary to personally attack me for this. GROW UP already.

In the first place, your $3,500 difference is comparing a standard room at the Hyatt to the best the GCH has to offer. Hardly a fair comparison. I assumed the Hyatt had a shuttle, but hotel shuttles generally suck. I don't know the specifics of the Hyatt, but usually they are very limited in availability. Most only run during a limited period in the morning and then again in the evening. At BEST some places have them available once an hour all day. Not terribly convenient. YOU apparently failed to notice that I said I found DL a great place to visit because it was so WALKABLE... no need for driving, buses or SHUTTLES.

I think everyone in this thread has recognized that different people are willing to spend money on different things, and that whatever choice they make is fine. You seem to be the only one determined to present your choice as the ONLY proper one.

Excuse me. I just spit some water out laughing at the "educate." LOL!

Really? You call me "DaBoob" and then say "grow up" and seemingly don't even get the irony.

Let's review. You were the first to attack anyone, saying that those who stayed at a Disney hotel (which would cover may people here) were "suckers." I pointed out that was a jerky thing to say, which it was. Several of us have gone out of our way to say that either sometimes we stay on property and sometimes we don't, or that we understand why other people would make different choices than we do. Meanwhile, you have presented your choice as the other proper one, as RT points out.

    Grow up, indeed.

The phrase "to each his own" really seems beyond some people.
