The founders, and those you might elect, don't really believe the rhetoric they're spouting. It's just a means to whip up your enthusiasm and get them into office.

One possible exception would be Rand Paul. Like him or not, he does seem to be every bit the ideologue his Dad is, and will be unlikely to change his tune for anyone once elected (I still hope he's not, though).

The others? Don't count on it. They'll start sucking up to big business and ignoring YOU as soon as they get into their new cushy offices. THAT, you can count on.

    Damnit.

Time to find a new analogy in a field I'm more familiar with....

I'm really beginning to think people shouldn't be allowed to vote unless they can pass a basic Civics test.

Donny, framing the immigration issue as Arizona not being allowed to defend itself is a mistaken belief at best, and more likely though, a deliberately fraudulent, misleading and dishonest way of doing it. It's a FEDERAL ISSUE as it involves a border between two countries. Arizona HAS NO RIGHT to take action. That isn't Obama talking, IT'S THE LAW. No amount of Sheriff Joe Blowhole or any Tea party gangster saying otherwise will make it true.

Do you believe, as does the Constitution, that a President that has been duly elected by the Electoral College IS the President? For four years? And gets to govern as such?

Do you believe, as every Conservative once did, that we should pray FOR the President, that he will have the wisdom to guide and lead our country through whatever happens?

Do you owe any "allegiance ... to the republic for which it stands? One nation ... INDIVISIBLE?"

Cause I don't think you and the rest of the Tea Partiers do, regardless of who is or isn't pulling the strings behind the scenes.

I think you're fair weather patriots, Raiders fans with a new and dirtier team to cheer on, and don't give a tinker's damn what happens to this country as long as you can open some whoop-ass on those Americans you consider "unworthy."

And as soon as some "trustworthy" media blowhard tells you that the Muslim/Mexican/Gay/Socialist/Martian invasion is imminent and they're coming for you, you and all the "independent" Tea Partiers will be using your copies of the Constitution as kindling for Christian Kristallnacht, all the while feeling yourselves persecuted because some of us think you're acting kind of like Nazis.

That's why I'll NEVER join the Tea Party, even if I am in total agreement with some of your positions. Because I THINK YOU ARE LOUSY AMERICANS.

I think Nancy Pelosi said it best:

"It's not really a grassroots movement. It's astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class."
