I know one time my boyfriend was videotaping on HM, and my videocamera doesn't have a light on it, but on their video it probably looked like it did (don't really know how to explain that one), and they came over the speaker just for us and told us to not use video-lighting.

The scolding voice came on immediately, telling him to keep his hands inside the vehicle. *L*

That's because you probably had the infrared light on the video camera on.

The cameras in all dark rides are infrared cameras so to them, it looks like you have a giant spotlight on.

They came on the PA no less than THREE times to tell them to knock it off. Which kind of ruins the atmosphere in itself. What I couldn't believe is that even after the second warning they let maybe a minute and a half elapse, and then started doing it again.

Don't bother taking flash pictures in dark rides -- they don't turn out!

(Like saying to my friends "Man, this ride is no fun when people use the flash" or "Wow, some people are so rude and inconsiderate.")

And Ferret, I do subtle hints like that to people all the time (esp. in big crowds), but the people they're directed at never seem to get them. Either they ignore them, don't hear them, or just don't care.

Maybe they were foreigners who didn't understand English so well? Slim possibility, but a possibility nonetheless.

It's especially irritating on PotC where you are stuck on a boat with these people.

I appreciate CMs who do say something to them and pull them aside at the end of the ride if needed. I'm light sensitive and those flashes are blinding. Other than politely trying to ask them not to use their flash there really isn't much else another guest can do without causing further escalation besides notifying a CM at the end of the ride (and hope it's someone who actually gives a rats). =)

Okay, I am definitely not one of those people. As I said before, I have done it two times in my 34 years of visiting DL,several hundred visits. I am the guest who, even though no longer a CM, I still pick up trash or do whatever I can to correct things that I see that would interfere with a guest's DL experience. I am sorry for my two flashes.

    I'll take the flogging now. : +

Yah, me too. Every time I ride Space Mountain, someone shoots a flash off at the end of the ride - it never fails. I must be having bad luck. Every time, and in the same place! It's so blinding. I can't see anything after the flash for a few second.
