I wish there was a way for the CEO or park president to hear these words from the consmers--- *BTW, My 5 year old is playing with his Black Pearl leggo ship as I type this!

A new employee at DL makes about the same as a new employee at the local mall, but is expected to deal with bigger crowds, meet a stricter appearance and behavior code, and provide superior customer service. Of course, Disney provides its employees with the "Disney Difference", which is that intangible sense of pride that comes from being part of the Happiest Place on Earth.

Hat's off to CM's.

Once I heard one shop foreman say the worst thing you could threaten an older-generation employee with is a layoff, while the worst thing you could threaten a younger-generation employee with is overtime. I've just been playing with <a href="http://data.bls.gov" target="_blank">http://data.bls.gov</a>, where you can get all kinds of break-downs of wage scales by location and occupation. Here are the 10 highest and lowest paid jobs in Orange County in 2005, ranked by median hourly rage (including estimated tips and commissions): Dining Room and Cafeteria Attendants and Bartender Helpers - $7.84 Manicurists and Pedicurists - $7.84 Dishwashers - $7.85 Waiters and Waitresses - $7.87 Food Preparation and Serving Related Workers, All Other - $7.88 Bartenders - $7.97 Hosts and Hostesses, Restaurant, Lounge, and Coffee Shop - $7.98 Baggage Porters and Bellhops - $7.98 Combined Food Preparation and Serving Workers, Including Fast Food - $8.03 Food Servers, Nonrestaurant - $8.04 ... Sales Managers - $51.04 Engineering Managers - $51.56 Computer and Information Systems Managers - $51.62 Natural Sciences Managers - $52.21 Computer and Information Scientists, Research - $52.38 Dentists, General - $52.46 Pediatricians, General - $56.63 Lawyers - $59.78 Physicists - $63.13 Podiatrists - $64.27 I don't know if there's anything useful in all this, but I had fun looking it up. ;-)
